Do you fear that you may go to Hell?

No, I’m kind of resigned to it. I suspect that the best I can do is to have a shot at one of the slightly less infernal places in hell. If I ever do get to heaven, it won’t be because I did it on my own.

If I go to purgatory, I will probably have to burn for trillions of trillions of quadrillions of centuries, and that is probably a vast underestimate. Start thinking in factorial products and you might be closer to what’s likely to happen: 100!!! etc. millennia . . .

Why so negative? Christ gave us the perfect tools to avoid Hell: Reconciliation and the Eucharist!

What do you mean “First try?” We only get one shot at this. Now, if you meant you’re going to need a stop in Purgatory beforehand then yeah, I think that applies to most of us.
Yup. I am HOPING to make it to purgatory 😊

I just know how things go, always worse than before . . . it’s the story of my life . . .

I’m sure I will screw those up. I’m usually too tired to even go to church or go to confession. I’ll probably end up homeless pretty soon, be (successfully) tempted to suicide, etc.

It’s just the way life is.

Gotta go now - the dentist is going to pull more of my teeth; in about an hour or so I won’t have any more front uppers . . .

Wrong. Everyone is invited. You just have to accept the invitation on God’s terms, not your own.
no, I accept it on His peoples terms…the ones who would not want me there!

God can do nothing but allow them their free will, or so-called free will.

Simon, I’ve already been through this circle with you before. If you really had such a bad experience at one Parish, go to a different one.

Sorry, it it no is not just one parish and one priest…i am talking about the people as a whole That is my opinon and thought, if they knew about me.

And again, I’ll tell you that you are overreacting, and assuming a very negative view of Christians. Have you actually -tried- going out and speaking to a different priest?

You dont get it do you? I am not just talking about a priest. You know as well as i do what their reaction to be would me.

I’m sorry for going off topic…i will stop now. Apologies!

I’m interested in opinions from all Religions.

Do you ever think that you may not make it to Heaven based on the tenants of your Religion, or are you sure that you will go to Heaven?
Define fear.

Neither I, nor you, know what their reaction would we. We aren’t psychic, and can’t read minds. The only way to find out is to actually try.

I will also stop the conversation here, since we are very off topic. Just consider giving it another go.

I have many friends who are Prostestant and they are sure they are going to heaven. They say “I have accepted Jesus as my personal Savior” and therefore I will go to heaven. As a Catholic, I pray daily that I just don’t go to Hell, but I’m sure I won’t make to Heaven on the first try.🤷
Aim for Heaven, then at the very least most will spend s e time in purgatory;)

I deal with a habitual sin that I often fall into, so yes, I do fear Hell. I know that it is entirely possible for me to die in a state of mortal sin, and as such forfeit my connection to God forever.

I pray that I die in a state of grace, but I can never be sure that it will happen.
That is how I feel. I am in the same boat, I suppose.

I don’t exactly fear going to Hell, but accept that except for God’s mercy it would be our common destination. I am absolutely in Christ’s hands, He who redeemed us. I cannot save myself.

Is there a certain time people remain in Purgatory…Can it be many yrs?
Our measurements of time don’t pertain to God. Who knows, maybe one second may be 100 years, and 100 years is one second.
