Do you feel like when you meet Jesus you will be meeting an old friend whom you know very personally and dearly? Or do you feel like you won’t know him?

Many times we meet Jesus on the street but we just go pass by Him. He is afterall in the least of our brethren.

He will be an instantly recognized friend, very dear. However, I have always felt that we will know him much more in heaven, since we only see dimly now, and then it will be face to face.

When I was young (about 5 years old), my uncle a Catholic priest taught me, that Jesus is my fried, he is the same age as me, and I can turn to him with trust any time.

I lived as he said, until Jesus dies at age 33. This left the Blessed Virgin as mother.

I feel as though I have already met him, I have already begun living with the one whom I will be with for eternity. I understand heaven will be an infinitely more complete experience of union with Christ, but he wants us to begin our relationship now. He calls each of us to a deep intimacy with him that we can foster while still living on earth. No doubt when he comes again for us we will recognize him immediately.🙂

If you don’t mind a somewhat lowbrow analogy, “you are what you eat.” Or at least you attain an intimacy unlike any other.

This sounds pessimistic compared to the previous posts, but I don’t know him well enough. Whatever we do, he will always have a better way. I don’t feel like I can properly know him unless I go to Heaven.

Right, but what I’m asking is, do you feel like you know Jesus personally? Like he is your friend? Or do you feel like you’d be meeting a stranger once you die?

Yes - like a friend, but more emotions as well because, of course, he’s God.

Our goal in life everyday is get closer in our friendship with Jesus Christ and make more perfect our faith, hope, and charity. I do this by…
  • Trying not to sin
  • Prayer
  • Devotion to Mother Mary and my patroness St. Therese de Lisieux
  • Participating in the Sacraments (Eucharist not until my confirmation; Reconciliation each time I sin)
So I feel as if I know Jesus personally and I do love Him, but I’m still on a “Mr. Savior” basis and not on a “J-man” basis. Meaning I’m not as close to Him as I should be. But every day, using the above methods, I aim to get at least a little closer to Him. And it’s been working, because not too long ago, I couldn’t fathom how or why anyone would die for Christ and now I think that I’d be on the martyr train if it ever came around.

I once had an experience after praying the Jesus Prayer for a prolonged period of time.

It seemed to me that Christ stood before me and I only wanted to fall at His Feet to kiss them and thank Him for His presence in me and for the gift of His Name by which I know Him.

I also felt that just as we call on Him by His Name, so too does He call on us by our name (or a special name that He has for us).

Reading His words in the scriptures is likewise very important to come to know Him.

But I hope I never know Him as my “buddy.” He is my “Lord and God.”

Yes, I feel like I do. That we have a personal and close relationship. And that He knows me very well. And is very patient.
