I try to remember that our Lord gave his life for the world on a Friday, but that conflicts with the emotions of being done with work/school and finally being able to relax. Does anybody else feel this divide?

frankly I often don’t even know what day of the week it is, or wouldn’t w/o looking at the LOTH on-line because I am usually off in the book. yes I do feel sorrow because we pray w/ PS51, and then I am saying the sorrowful mysteries when I walk.

does it interfere with me carrying out the duties of the day, no (it is actually my day off, when I get a chance to take it so I do housework). It is the only day I am sure of getting a chance for a holy hour so that is the good part. since Friday is not the start of leisurely weekend, but just a pause before my biggest days, Sat & Sun, I guess I don’t feel so much of a mood disconnect

Yes sometimes, the weekend is near and you want to spend time with the family. Maybe eat something you spend some time on preparing so the penitence is tempered with joy.🙂 Do you have to have a sour face when doing penance?
