Do you think the homosexual rights/equality movement is targeting Christians deliberately, or we’re just collateral damage?

Or are we being damaged/attacked at all?

It is an all-out frontal attack. We are at war, and have been all our lives. But the war is not between flesh and blood. It is between principalities and powers, darkness and light, truth and lies. Satan and God. This push by homosexuals for “equal rights, same-sex ‘marriage’, etc.” is nothing more than an all-out effort to try to “legitimize” abhorrent, sinful, sexual depravity. It’s trying to say that a sin is not a sin. Straight from the depths of hell and Satan’s mouth to the ear of the supporters of this lie. Let there be no doubt.

The good news, though, is that in the end, whenever that is, we win. The real question, though, is how many casualties will we suffer before then. I predict that many, many souls will be lost.

This really all started a lot longer ago, with the “approval” of artificial birth control. The Pope then predicted that we would see “legalized” abortion, euthanasia, divorce rates through the roof, big rise in homosexuality, etc., if artificial birth control was accepted by the public. They have, and the results were exactly as predicted.

Have you got a link for the last paragraph? Which Pope was it? Not questioning you, I just found what you said interesting.

I believe that Homosexuals are aware of christian stance on this and see christians as their biggest obsticle.I believe many see christian as obstructionists and dislike many christians as a result.

Of course, this dates back to Lot and his family, at least that is as early as I can recollect from scripture.

yes for when we permit evil in society how is God suppose to bless us

Persecution is in full swing. Church signs are desecrated with pro-homosexual spray-painted slogans, gay rights groups are filing civil rights complaints against churches that refuse to allow them to use their church properties for gay rights gatherings and gay marriage receptions, representatives of churches, especially the Catholic Church, are yelled and screamed at in public by homosexual activists, and basically cannot speak in a public venue because they will be screamed down by homosexuals; church services are disrupted by radical homosexuals; those believing in traditional marriage are threatened at their workplaces and in some cases forced to quit or are fired.

You said it all.

Yup, we’re the biggest block in their agenda. What’s worse, we’ve had success in helping those with SSA overcome their disorder and that infuriates gay rights activists as it undermines their claim that it’s a natural and good thing.

I believe by attempting to redefine marriage, they are deliberately striking at one of the cornerstones of civilization adn the Christian faith (whtehr Catholic or otherwise).

So yes—in one way or another, the CC and Christianity in general ARE under attack. 😦

I guess maybe Catholics are being targeted- I don’t really think about other Christians- not my consern.

But it’s OK, the church has faced crises SO much more dire than the present by the Homosexual community.

I really feel that, in general, Catholics around here make far too much of the “minor” persecution of the modern age. I feel it makes light of the “true” suffering like that endured by our martyrs and saints.

We Catholics should be humble, loving, and kind, but steadfastly proclaim the truth in a spirit of fraternal love.

Christ met his cross in silence and acted in perfect love itself- that is our calling.

The Church and Her teachings have helped some homosexuals live more chaste lives but She has NOT made a homosexual non-homosexual.

Remember that if any of us masturbates we are just as unchaste as our homosexual brothers and sisters. Self-stimulation is an abomination to God of which many heterosexual men and women are guilty.

Yes and No. No, it’s not an evil conspiracy where gays sit around, twist their mustache tips and cackle with glee over every new idea for ‘sticking it to the christians.’

But yes, they DO believe that our morality is archaic and repressive and that our worldview is one that must be marginalized for theirs to be culturally accepted. In that sense, of course they are targeting christianity (if not christians individually). We stand in the way of the culture they envision. In all fairness, that’s precisely the way we see their ideals too: dangerously destructive to society.

But to a certain extent, it’s hard to blame them. 100 years ago, marriage was defined thus: “Marriage is the union of a man and woman united in the unbreakable Grace filled bond of a self sacrificial love so great that it holds the potential to bring forth and nurture new life.” Not coincidentally, nobody took the idea of ‘gay marriage’ seriously back then.

About 50-70 years ago, few noticed when marriage was redefined to “marriage is the union of man and woman who are filled with a feeling of love for each other and want to publicly celebrate that feeling and have it go on forever.” This is a pathetically watered down definition (and ironically impossibly utopian at the same time), but was considered necessary by those who desperately wanted to legitimize contraception in marriage. They had to highlight and exaggerate the romantic feelings aspect of marriage in an attempt to replace the central place of procreation that was being discarded. What they didn’t foresee was that there is no longer any compelling reason in that new definition for the two to be of opposite sexes. Therefore, to a certain extent, gay activists are merely demanding that society follow the logic they’ve already embraced to its logical conclusion. If marriage is nothing more than a committment to maintaining that fuzzy feeling, how can it be right to deny it to gay people?

Homosexuality has always been condemned by Catholicism. It is considered a grave sin never to be tolerated. So, by definition, the attempts at normalising homosexual behaviour necessitates an attack on Catholicism, if not Christianity itself. The homosexual equality and equal rights movement has sought more than non-discrimination and has striven for equality where it can never exist. They are destroying the very foundations of western civilisation. Revcent cases in Britain drive home just how far this reverse discrimination has gone.

Sweeping universal declarations like this are almost always wrong (except this statement of mine, of course! 😉 ).

People of homosexual inclination are not mass produced in a factory from identical specifications. Some people have SSA because of arrested development, others do seem to have a very deep rooted orientation. No two are the same, just like the rest of humanity.

I think it’s just as wrong to say that anybody with an SSA will have it for life as it is to say ‘all gays can be cured.’ Life is messier than that.

Homosexuality has always been condemned by Catholicism.
No.

Physical expressions of homosexuality have always been condemned. Temptations themselves are not sinful unless surrendered to. Jesus himself was tempted, but never sinned. There is no guilt in being tempted in a certain way, only in failing to resist that sinful inclination.

As another poster points out, it’s not much different than masturbation, morally.

I take exception to the wording of the post, too.

Homosexuals HAVE equality. They HAVE every right that I have. One of the enemy’s best tactics is to change the battleground by changing the meaning of words.

Yes!

You are playing semantics.

Here is a dictionary definition of Homosexuality from Merriam-Webster.

ho·mo·sex·u·al·i·ty

noun \ˌhō-mə-ˌsek-shə-ˈwa-lə-tē
Definition of HOMOSEXUALITY

1
: the quality or state of being homosexual

2
: **erotic activity with another of the same sex **

You are merely attempting to make a semantic disctinction based on what the Catechism says.
