Do you feel that the homosexual equality/rights movement is targeting Christians?

I’d say that homosexual right groups can’t very well validate their actions without attacking the teachings of the church. In some cases, very angry individuals may attack Christian people as well. (Not usually physically, but with hate and insults.)

To the OP, yes, most definitely.

What gay activists call equality is really tyranny. They make no bones about their intent in targeting Christians. Actually, it has been playing out for more than a decade, with their efforts leading to tangible success in the last several years. Take a read of this October 2009 news, for example:

Wealthy homosexual activist advises ‘active measures’ against religious opponents

*David Bohnett, a wealthy homosexual activist has attacked Catholic leaders, saying they are among his movement’s “greatest adversaries.” He called on his allies to combat “head-on” religious organizations opposed to homosexual causes and to take “active measures” against them.

“We must treat the causes of intolerance and bullying as well as the symptoms of them,” he remarked. “And as we see most often, it is the evangelical and fundamentalist groups that teach homosexuality is a sin, who stand in the way of fairness and equality.

“It’s time to combat head-on the religious organizations that are funding the opposition to marriage equality and safe school legislation.”

He also said it was important to support religious leaders and institutions that embrace “full equality” for homosexuals and their families.

“Let us make it known, however, that we will challenge those religious leaders and institutions that shamefully and cowardly use the imprimatur of their church and the name of god [sic] and Jesus to promote hatred and bigotry toward lesbians and gay men,” Bohnett declared. “Among our greatest adversaries who actively work against us are the leaders of the Catholic, Mormon, and evangelical churches who seek to deny equal protection for us and for our children.”

“The bible [sic] is all too often used as a weapon against us, quoted and mis-quoted by those who seek to deny us freedom and equality,” he continued, arguing that children taught that the Bible condemns homosexuality may become “school bullies” and later become the adults who vote “to deny marriage equality.”

And here is another form of targeting:

Gay marriage activists target California Catholics, Mormons

And yet another:

Equality Matters: Gay watchdog group for media and communications goes after priest.

If truth is subjective, what are they afraid of?

I don’t see how they are not equal, ALL people (regardless of sexual orientation), have the right to marry someone of the opposite gender whom they are not related to. Its not like you have to fill out a survey at the courthouse about your sexuality or your future sex life. What gays want is SPECIAL treatment.
I’ve never understood this argument. Everyone would have equal access to marry someone of the same sex too, correct? So how would this be a special right?

Do you think the homosexual rights/equality movement is targeting Christians deliberately, or we’re just collateral damage?

Or are we being damaged/attacked at all?
I came back to read the OP. I think Christianity is just collateral damage, from their viewpoint I don’t believe their intent is to do away with the church as much as it us to get the church off their back.

Bestiality marriages? Pedophilic marriages?
I find it funny you say that. I’m sure people would love to know that you equate a marriage between two people that love each other to such things as pedophilla, incest, and beastility. These are people that are just like anyone else save their sexuality. Not people that like to take advantage of things less powerful than they are for sex.

Some certainly are though, there is an element of contempt even in the mainstream groups.

Yes. Our martyrdom is near. Maranatha…now I am scared of pain

Christians have been targeting homosexuals for centuries but ever so much more now that they can’t focus their attention against the godless communist since the Berlin wall fell.

Yes, in the same way that the civil rights movement for African-Americans targeted white supremacists and other hate groups.
How dare you play the victim.

Whats more, it seems silly to assert that god would still have a side in the battle in regards to American morality, if he did, he would have had to overlook one of history’s greates atrocities, the destruction of the indigenous peoples of these lands.

I think they are just another hate group, they just hate Christians for our insistence on a moral society. They pretend to be about advancing the rights of others, but they refuse to have anything to do with any other groups that can claim to be born that way such as zoophiles, pedophiles, necrophiliacs, adults in incestuous relationships or the Mormon fundamentalists plural marriages. So the claim they are about equality is completely and demonstrably bogus. Its an outright lie that no one is calling them on yet. Lets change that. The new meme should be that their intolerance of other lifestyles is hateful. Spread the word.😃

I think we are simply seeing the repeating of the pattern of Sodom and Gomorrah, where homosexuals targeted God’s people and His messengers.

Homosexual activists now come on virtually every website to yell and scream at people and threaten and call them names, basically threatening anyone who stands up for God’s standards.

If you lived up to the Catholic tag you have next to your name, you’d know enough history to know that what you wrote is just plain, unadulterated piffle. How do you explain the fact the ancient Romans criminalised homosexuality before Christianity came along? Or, how do you explain the fact that the Muslims are down on homosexuality big time and have been for centuries? And, how do you explain the very extreme persecution of homosexuals by the Nazis?

Perhaps the answer is that homosexuality is such an odd thing and one found to be abhorrent by so many for so much of human history, that its persecution, if that is what took place, is a general human trait and not something done by Christians alone.

I’m sorry, but when I saw the title of this thread I thought it was a joke. Then I saw that the majority of people had actually voted “yes,” and I was like :confused:

I mean seriously? lol? The complete OPPOSITE is the truth. Christians are “targeting” them.

Most Christians will list the common dumb reasons they are against equal marriage rights for homosexuals, such as “they won’t be able to make babies,” “it’s unnatural” etc…, when in fact these people are cowards that are afraid to admit they don’t like homosexuality or the idea of homosexuals being allowed to be married because…

drum roll

Some book written by primitive, bronze age, desert-dwellers, called the Bible, says it’s bad, and they want to enforce their theology down everyone else’s throat.

But their to ashamed to admit it so instead they list commonly said dumb reasons.

This isn’t always the case though. Some Christians are at least honest to say their against it because of their religion.

Homosexuals are not “attacking” or “targeting” anyone, they just want to be allowed to be MARRIED, which in no way infringes upon you as a Catholic. If all it does is offend you because you believe marriage is special and sacred, too bad, you don’t have the right to not be offended in this country.

I believe in the future, perhaps when I’m an old man, (I’m 22 now), the people who were opposed to homosexual marriage in these times will be looked back upon as being just as bigoted and ignorant as those who once thought it appropriate to segregate schools and water fountains and such based off of ethnicity.

The original poster didn’t even list one example of how on earth this movement is “targeting” Christians. I’d like to hear even one plausible example.

Yes, they are targeting Christians, and especially the Catholic Church.

Why did InterPride have their Pride March in Rome in the Jubilee Holy Year 2000?
Their mission statement on their website says it was “in response to the Vatican’s Millennium 2000 campaign.”
Homosexualists often target the Pope, streaking in front of him or having kiss-ins. This kind of aggression is way out of line in my opinion.

Homosexualist activists have determined that the main voice of moral authority lies with the Catholic Church. Therefore, they are working hard to isolate, demonise, and silence the Church.

(The plan was laid out in a book called After the Ball).

Homosexuality has always been condemned by Catholicism. It is considered a grave sin never to be tolerated. So, by definition, the attempts at normalising homosexual behaviour necessitates an attack on Catholicism, if not Christianity itself. The homosexual equality and equal rights movement has sought more than non-discrimination and has striven for equality where it can never exist. They are destroying the very foundations of western civilisation. Revcent cases in Britain drive home just how far this reverse discrimination has gone.
And you know what makes it worse, John? When there are supporters of the above within Catholic associations e.g. Soho Mass Pastoral Council.
