I was just wondering if anyone here, abides by every Catholic teaching they are aware of. If you always follow church teaching… how do you do it?

If you intentionally don’t follow church teachings, then why don’t you follow that specific teaching?

Just to clarify, by always I mean never intentionally going againest church teaching.

I didn’t vote, because while I believe in all the teachings and really TRY to abide by them, I am a sinner and do not always give them the weight they deserve.

Nobody fully abides by all Catholic teachings. We all make mistakes.

Exactly mlchance…if you are sinning, you are not abiding by all the churches teachings…whoever clicked yes they do abide by them all must be up for beatification :rotfl:

The question should probably be …‘do you agree with all church teaching’…but probably best to avoid that question as it may possibly start a fight

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

I misleadingly voted yes, but after thinking about the question, I make mistakes as well. I’m sorry, everyone, I am a sinner (and a hypocrite for right now)

I think we all know what was ment by the question, does every question have to be exact, in order to get a response other than to critique?

Lets have some charity

Lighten up dear friend, if we lose our sense of humour, life would be very dour. Jesus surely laughed and smiled. Yes you are right we all understand the spirit of the question and I am fully sure no-one is having a go at whoever posted the thread as that would not be loving or kind to do that, but also it is important to point out it is almost impossible unless you are without any sin whatsoever to abide by all of the churches teachings.

As for those who voted yes no or have no idea…we are ALL doing our best and that is the best we can do…xxx

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

I voted other, I was taught well, but do fall more than I would like to. So hopefully I will always abide by the teachings of the church and not fall to much in life.

I was thinking that as I went to type my answer. After working on an examination card and finding all these sites on examining your conscience I am not sure if I will ever be able to type yes.

Our family tries to abide by all Church teachings. However, I had to mark “Other” as there have been times that I haven’t followed a teaching because of misunderstanding and, less excusable, because of laziness. However, my intent is to follow all teachings which I am constantly trying to do.

I try to follow all Catholic teachings out of love for God. Sometimes I fail in my human weakness and then I seek out God’s forgiveness, resolve not to do that again, and continue on.

I voted yes–but that isn’t literally true. I agree with or submit to every teaching of the Church, unless I fail…but I try.

I guess I’m just stupid because I voted Yes too. I saw the question as meaning that you accept the teachings of the Church and try to live them to the best of your ability. Like not using artificial birth control, going to Mass on Sundays and Holy Days, abstaining during Lent, being pro-life, etc. I didn’t think it meant am I perfect? Of course not!!! No one alive today could answer that Yes!

I knew what the writer meant and I voted no. The reason I voted no was because of a basic teaching of the Church that my wife and I do not abide by at the moment. We do have marital relations and do not use NFP. With that said, I have approached my wife and informed her that we are sinning by using contraception. It was a somewhat difficult conversation and it did not end well. We have three children and we both feel that they are a blessing and that our family is big enough for now. We did attend a NFP class and we thought it was too difficult and did not stick with it.

YES, I choose to abide by all of them. It’s so comforting to know I no longer have to pick and choose (which by the way is what the word heretic means) and that I trust in the Church, Christ’s Church. Yes, some things might be a little harder than others for me, but Ce La Vie~~

God Bless~~

Webster’s on line dictionary has the following,

abide by 1 : to conform to 2 : to acquiesce in http://www.m-w.com/images/pixt.gifI conform to the teachings and I acquiesce in them as well. That I may not do so perfectly changes nothing. I also write, think, drive, exercise, teach, work, play, and recreate. Just because I don’t do any of those things perfectly doesn’t mean I don’t do them,

As John Stossel says on TV, give me a break!

:clapping: Thanks for this! I don’t feel so stupid anymore!

I didn’t vote because there was no break down of “Church Teachings.” Catholics must all accept “Dogma” ( Example …we must believe that Our Lady was born without sin) These are must follow principals. Actually there are not very many of these, but if one does not accept them, you are not Catholic. There are teachings involved in “Private Revelation” that we are not required to believe or follow. For instance, even the church approved aparitions at Fatima and Lourdes are not mandatory beliefs. But, I do believe them.

May God bless all those who take the time to study these boards.
