Many of the books mentioned in this thread I have read and recommend them.

A few years ago I discovered St. Gemma Galgani by reading her biography “The Life of
St. Gemma Galgani” by her Spiritual Director, Venerable Father Germanus, C.P.

I have read it about four times.

St Dominic and The Order of Preachers by Simon Tugwell OP. Very short but a lovely telling of the life of St. Dominic.

“The Road To Assisi” by Paul Sabatier. It is the essential biography of St. Francis of Assisi. It comes with a study guide & is read & studied in the process of Third Order Formation

I haven’t read that one, but I did like, “God’s Fool; The Life and Times of Francis of Assisi,” by Julien Green. It held my interest throughout.

I also like St. Gregory the Great’s telling of the life of St. Benedict in Book 2 of his “Dialogues,” and for a more recent version, I enjoyed, “Man of Blessing; A Life of St. Benedict,” by Carmen Acevedo Butcher.

I have read Saint Gemma’s autobiography and I really liked it. It is quite small but very good .
