Do you have a favorite painting of Jesus?

Wow, this is a tall order. I guess if I had to chose just one favorite it would be of the crucifixion because for me there is no other point in Jesus’ earthy ministry where I see His Divinity and His humanity so clearly in His One Person. My MIL just got me an Icon for Christmas but I can’t find a pic of it on-line to show it. It is Christ being taken down from the cross with His mother there as well as Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus (Nicodemus is kneeling, removing the nail out of His feet). It’s not the usual Icon depiction of this scene, it’s simpler, less busy.

This isn’t in a “non-Catholic forum” I posted here at CAF… Just kidding, I know what you meant. I posted it here for a reason.

Why wouldn’t there be other Non-Catholics who would have a “favorite picture of Jesus”? I think the only differences might be, those few non-Catholics, who wrongly assert “graven images” and that the ‘favorite paintings” of Catholics and Orthodox persons would probably come from an earlier period in history, where some others may like the more modern paintings.

This might be interesting. I like the older paintings better but I don’t “dislike” any paintings of Jesus that I have seen so far. I would like to see what the “favorite paintings of Jesus” are, of those here at CAF and this includes non-Catholics.

Now why doesn’t this one surprise me? I would have to give this one the big thumbs down. Let’s try not to be offensive or to commit blasphemy here, ok? I was looking for “nice” paintings of Jesus. Now say you’re sorry….:knight2: Even though I understand your point, no free advertising for the enemy here. :knight1:

even so, they only got a month’s suspension from the muslim government. and only after intense pressure. while 2 companies who published the danish cartoon of mohammad were completely shut down. with that kind of bias, i’d say they are both (hindus & muslims) in it together. 😃

I cannot really say that I have a favourite picture of Jesus. PersonalyI don’t like pictures or statues of Jesus because we have no idea what Jesus actually looked like. I see no problems with paintings or statues of others as long as they are used for proper purposes. (I suppose what proper purposes are could be a matter of opinion as well.) However Jesus is God and I cannot bring myself to accept images of God. This is my own quirk I guess because our church has stained glass windows with pictures of Jesus.
