😛 I loved this one - and read some REALLY funny and good sayings.

I don’t have any sayings on my computer work desk. Alot of papers, etc. But I do have a picture of Our Lady holding the Child Jesus and a souvenir image of St. Anthony I brought back from Padua years ago (it says “Padova”). I do have too many sayings to quote here.

But may I ask about the Morning Offering that was posted? I say it upon waking every day but I was taught to say it this way:

Oh, Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer Thee all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of Thy Most Sacred Heart; in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world; in reparation for all my sins, for the intentions of all my associates, for the reunion of Christendom and, in particular, for the special intentions of the Pope this month.
The one I have is from the back of a holy card from the Archdioce of St. Louis. We (at Saint Michael’s Media) were given some by Archbishop Burke when he was still in St. Louis. About two years ago he came to the studios to bless our work and gave them to us. They have the most beautiful image of the Sacred Heart on the front.

I used to have a poster of a pig wallowing in mud. The caption on it was, " Never argue with a pig. It frustrates you and it insults the pig",

Well…these aren’t really by my “work” desk (:p) but rather ones I have in my room, on Facebook, etc. I’m kind of a “quote collector”, per se. 😃

~Who’s more foolish…the fool, or the one who follows him? -Obi-wan Kenobi 🙂

~No great genius ever existed without some touch of madness. -Aristotle

~It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live. -Prof. Dumbledore 🙂

Ok…then these are a bit longer, but I love them all the same…

Taken from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland:

“Alice came to a fork in the road. ‘Which road do I take?’ she asked.
‘Where do you want to go?’ responded the Cheshire cat.
‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered.
‘Then,’ said the cat. ‘it does not matter which road you take.’”

Taken from The Diary of Anne Frank:

“I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart. It is utterly impossible for me to build my life on a foundation of chaos, suffering, and death…I hear the approaching thunder…And yet…I somehow feel that everything will change for the better…that peace and tranquility will return once more.”

While its not actually on my desk propper, this quote is always in my head while working, etc.

“Lord, I am not Worthy to Receive You, but only say the word, and I shall be healed.”

THis is my favorite by Mother Teresa:

DO IT ANYWAY

People are often unreasonable, illogical,
and self-centered;
forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you
Of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some
false friends and some true enemies;
succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank;
People may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis
it is between you and God
It was never between you and them anyway.

These 4 are among those posted on my office wall.

“What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later.”
John 13:7

“Be it done unto me according to Thy word.”
(from the Memorare)

“The Rosary is a sword in the hand of Mary to cut through evil…pray it!!!”
(card received at a retreat many years ago)

"The power of prayer: I believe that God gives only three answers to prayer:
  1. ‘Yes.’
  2. ‘Not yet.’
  3. ‘I have something better in mind.’
    God still sits on the throne; the devil is a liar.
    You may be going through a tough time right now, but God is getting ready to bless you in a way you cannot imagine."
    (from an email forward from my sister)

nothing on the wall here, but my mother had written on her wall in magic marker:

“My name is Ozymandius, king of kings, look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair.”

I used to have a in my old office some favorite quote clippings, my favorite used to be my signature here:

“If you ask me, Flanagan, there’s a lot of very peculiar blokes on this beach.”

another favorite, my husband has it now, is a paraphrase from Mother Teresa

“God does not ask us to be successful, nor expect us to be fulfilled. He asks and expects us to be faithful.”

That quote’s beautiful! Very similar to a philosophy I’ve had since I was a little girl. 😃

On my work desk I have a card that says “Barn’s burnt down… now I can see the moon.” It’s a poem by a samurai named Masahide. I like having a reminder that things can seem disastrous, but only if you can’t look past them!

“Don’t pray for an easy life, pray to be a strong person”.

“I have always something to repent for after having talked, but have never been sorry
for having been silent.” St. Arsenius the great.

I have two… a quote from Sacred Scripture… “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

And also… a “reminder”…

“Life is short… but Eternity… is FOREVER”.

These two kind of balance one another.

The aim of life is not to know whether there is immoratlity but to live so that you deserve it. David Rwolpe:sad_bye:

I know you meant something of a religious nature, but the one right in front of me right now is:

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

“Nil ni si te, Domine” St. Thomas Aquinas

Found this at my sister-in-law’s house next to the kitchen sink.

Tell your problems how big God is !!
