If so, what is you favorite piece of spiritual writing. (Besides the Bible, of course.)

Name just one, please. I want to know singular, not plural. 😀 Thanks!

Since you took out The Bible from consideration, how about the CCC?
 
Well, its not a book, its a sermon on the last four things: death, judgement, heaven, or hell. I usually listen to it via download, or podcast when i need a restart. Some Priests bring it with fire and brimstone. Some with monotone lecture. But when you find one that hits a home run: keep it close to listen when you sway from the path. When i get home, ill see if i can find the link and add to this thread.

That is a great answer. I was going to exclude that one, but I hesitated to do so. I figured many would say that, I suppose. It’s actually mine, too, but besides the catechism, what is you favorite?

It’s Orthodox but Catholics read it too (4th and 5th centuries). Basically just a collection of spiritual writings by Church Fathers. They are very readable and I find that they have a very real very good impact on how I practice Christianity (as opposed to talk (or post) about it). Worth checking out a volume.

I really like this book, too. I find it very rich and have to meditate it upon it in small sections.

I would also have to say that for me, it has also been St. Faustina’s Diary of Divine Mercy.

Reading her diary has had such a profound effect on me, especially when Jesus would talk about His Mercy and His Justice…

The whole diary is amazing. ❤️

The Pieta Prayer book. I’ve had one for a long time just today someone gave me a new one. The devotions in that little book I find are helping me in my spiritual journey. God Bless:🦋🦋🦋
 
I read it first as a Protestant. It helped me get over the fear and anxiety over the Real Presence of the Eucharist and Marian devotion. (Although I’m still not sure if God the Father actually spoke to her or if she’s using it as a literary device to speak her thoughts…but why would a humble saint make up speaking to God if it never happened?)

Interesting. Will have to give it a look. I like him; he was a bad bad boy and had a powerful conversion mainly through the Blessed Virgin.
