Do you have a good parish priest?

Because we do. I just have to take the time to comment about him. I have seen quite a few posts regarding liturgical abuse by priests,etc. All certainly warrant questioning and further education but I just wanted to post a positive comment about ours. He does a great job at the puplit and serves with energy, excitement, sincerity and is true to the Catholic faith.

At the end of every mass father stands at the door and greets everyone as they exit the church. This past Sunday he greeted us and knew that my wife and I were expecting. He could really tell she was showing more then usual. : ) What he did was to stop the flow of traffic so for a minute or two he could say a blessing for both of us and the baby in front of everyone.

He knows we take these blessings to heart and really surprised us. It just made our day.

He has done many great things for us and our parish. I hope others have the same leadership that we do and hope others can share similar experiences.

Our parish’s pastor said when he first came to our parish, and he said the same thing last Sunday’s homily:

“I will not ask you to do more than what Jesus asked you to do, and I will not ask you to do anything less than what He asked you.”

He is a very good pastor and is like a CEO. He knows how to get our parish grow and become stronger.

I love his awesome homilies.
 
I can say I did in my old parish. Me and my wife had lessons for confirmation and he always came out and pulled my wheelchair up the steps and built a ramp for me later to get into the office.

In my new parish I haven’t been involved enough, the priest all seem wonderful. I use to know them all at my new parish but the priest were changed after I left and they are all new now.
 
The current priest at my military parish is the best priest I’ve ever worked with, heard preach, etc.
 
I currently am blessed with three diocesan Priests who say Sunday Mass at the Parish. One is the chaplain for our MIssion (which I attend), the other is a young Msgr. (he just turned 53 and had that honorary title when he came here some 10 years ago) who is our Pastor and the other is the Diocesan Vocations director.

All three give great homilies, all follow the rubrics closely. All are actually pretty active in Parish life in one way or another.

Prior to that we had only one Priest with whom I had a problem as far as Mass abuses. He was the one who started the hand holding in the Parish for the Our Father (note, this is not to open a discussion! on the topic!!) He used to bring the children up and around the altar during the Eucharistic Prayers :eek: but other than that, he taught well with his Homilies too.

So, yes, and I brag on them as often as I can because we need to uphold our Priests! Pray for them daily (I must start doing that again - I have gotten lazy).

We have FOUR wonderful parish priests.
One is from the Phillipines and one is from Africa and one is “older” (part-time retied).
Yes I’m very grateful. All of the priests who served over the past nine years have been wonderful.

👍 I brag on our pastor so much it must get boring to hear sometimes! He’s truly a holy man and he shepherds the parish so well. Excellent homilies, attention to detail in the liturgy, honest advice when you need it…not just what you want to hear. It’s a large parish with several languages and he is doing the job all alone. He watches over the songs we sing, the literature we read in the chapel, etc, and still always greets us with a smile and a warm handshake…and asks if we are getting what we need from the parish.

Father inspires me to be more like him so I can grow closer to God. That is real fatherhood. It must be hitting home with many. We are a growing parish and the number of altar boys is booming!

Ive been at my current church for 7 years now, and its grown to over 300 families, and the Priest, who has been there for a few years longer than I, continues to know almost every parishoners name. The only complaint I ever tell on him is that I have heard some of his stories before, but hey, 52 Sundays plus Holy Days times 7 makes an aweful lot of homilies. One man can only know so many:D
 
We have several wonderful priests.

Our pastor is incredible, and a great role model ( we have 5 men in the seminary, 6 if you include the one who was just ordained 2 weeks ago )

We have a great Associate, but we’re rather said, as we found out he is being given a new assignment 😦 Oh well, such is the nature of Associate Pastors)

We are also EXTREMELY blessed to have a 91 year old Senior Priest in residence at our parish. He comes out at each Mass to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion and hear confessions for 1/2 before every Mass. He is old, he is frail, but he is determined to expend all his has in the service of Christ’s flock. I cannot say enough about Fr. Val. 👍
 
My pastor is approaching his third anniversary with the parish, and 7th, I think, as a priest.

I think if I had to summarize his attitude it could be that God is Love.

He gives pretty good sermons (sometimes a bit too philosophical, but still good)

His reverence for the liturgy is so very comforting. So I try to continue in patience as he slowly brings his flock to a stronger love of the Eucharist.

He added 6:15am Mass three days a week so more men could attend before work…

When he noticed not many were coming for confession, he LENGTHENED the times for confession. Others might have just cancelled.

He replaced the non-Catholic music director with a great gal who dusted of the organ, replaced the faddish HagenHaas stuff in use, and now we even have a special supplemental book for the music with truly great stuff !!

He replaced the Youth Directors who had little belief in the Real Presence (self admitted), with a very zealous young family man who gives 125%

He introduced Adoration on a limited basis to start.

He is so Marian conscious without making waves.

He has fully supported all the homeschooling families, the KofC, the women’s group etc.

He takes a few retreats yearly to “refresh”

and he withstood the “difficulties” under the former Bishop. I am hoping that will all turn around now.

on the down side… he tries so hard to be a good priest for everyone’s needs. I don’t want to see him wear out.

Oh yay, I want to get in on the bragging, I absolutely love my parish priest (we only have one). He makes a point of actually teaching in his homilies, there is always a line for confession and we have weekly adoration.

He has a very charismatic character and a lot of good stories, and really cares about the people in the parish (I know from personal experience concerning me and my family).

He is celebrating his 8th anniversary today and has been our priest for almost 2 years.
 
I do have a good pastor, thanks be to God! The three pastors before him were not good however.
 
We have four priests and we are so blessed to have them. They are terrific!

We have an excellent parish priest! I love to listen to his great homilies every Saturday vigil Mass. 😃
 
I remember reading *Ad Catholici Sacerdotii * for the first time, and thinking of our pastor,
“Yes, that is what he strives to be.” He is an excellent priest, a great blessing.
 
Yes and thanks be to God for that. For a long time no priest wanted to come to our Parish because of the problems many of the Laity had. They thought they could tell the Priests how to run the Parish. Our current Priest has been a blessing and I am thankful to the Lord
