We have one priest, a wonderful one.
Twenty-plus years ago, we had a priest who was VERY traditional. Communion rails stayed in til the 90’s, no handshake at peacetime, etc…People griped and moaned about how we needed someone else.
Finally it happened. But some of the parishoners ran him out on a rail. He was MUCH more modern. He received so many letters of complaint, he started hanging them up on a bulletin board outside his office. This same priest is building a new building at his current parish, a “monolithic dome” type structure.
Finally, the Bishop moved him elsewhere. We went about a year without a priest. (I suspect the Bishop was teaching a bit of a lesson). Our latest priest has really revived our parish. We’ve built a perpetual adoration chapel, and he also champions the LifeTeen program, and really works hard with the kids.
He is active in all aspects of parish life, and seems to have boundless energy.
There will always be complainers, but by and large things are really hoppin’ here
