Do you have a holy water font in your home?

It’s a practice that’s always been highly recommended by our Church and by the saints. If you have one, where is it? Feel free to post pictures (I don’t have any pictures, myself.)

There is a small one on the wall in my bedroom between my “home altar” and bed, and another just inside the front door of my house which is also there for visitors to use.
 
I have one in my front room near the doorway. It is Our Lady of Grace with the holy water at her feet. It is listed in the Catholic Company’s collection of holy water fonts.

Just wondering about refilling your holy water fonts… Can you add unblessed water to your holy water? I was told once that as long as the font with blessed (holy) water has not gone dry, you may add water to it.
 
I used to have a plastic holy water font with a small bowl, hung on the wall beside my closet door. My thought was I would bless myself each morning before I left the house.

What I found out though, was that the water quickly disappeared, from evaporation. I’d have to refill it every couple of days. I’m sorry to say that maintaining a suppy of holy water in the house and refilling the font would be just another thing on my to-do list that I just don’t want to have at this time.

Having a holy water font in the house is a nice idea though, if you can make it work for you.
 
Right now I don’t have a holy water font hung up. We’re doing some remodeling, and all the hammering would knock them down. I have one in alabaster with the Holy Spirit, and one in porcelain with the Blessed Mother. They usually are right near my entrance doors so I can bless myself as I leave and enter the house. Right now, there are a couple of bottles of holy water next to the doors, so it’s all good.

There really isn’t any reason to run out of holy water. You can replenish your supply for free from your parish church anytime. Just take along a clean container. Be reasonable, don’t go dragging a gallon jug with you–LOL!

so, I keep a couple bottles tucked away in a couple locations and happily use it that way.
 
We have one near the front door, but rarely remember to fill it. We keep a bottle or two of holy water on hand, though. We also have a couple of boxes of blessed salt (rock salt), which actually lasts longer.

We’ve always just re-filled ours with holy water we’ve brought back from church. I don’t know about the efficacy of diluted holy water, but eventually all the holy water that’s in the font will evaporate and you’ll be “blessing” yourself with plain tap water.

I have one by my statue of the Holy Family by the fire place for sprinkling, and another one in the fridge for drinking.

We need a Holy Water Sommelier’s ruling on this, what is the preferred temperature for drinking holy water? 😛

The holy water I have for sprinkling was hot water out of the tap. The priest likes it that way because he says the water has been boiled in the boiler so it has less impurities and would stay fresh. It was used for blessing my home almost 3 years ago. I wouldn’t dare drink it because the priest’s hand was in it :D:D:D

The one I have for drinking was blessed this past Theophany by our bishop. I keep it in my fridge so that it will refresh my body as much as it refreshes my soul 👍

I bring holy water home in an old green wine bottle which has had the label soaked off. Actually, I have several filled bottles on hand.

It is okay to dilute it, my mother has done that with Lourdes water she was given, to preserve the supply.
 
I just have a holy water bottle that I use sometimes, not all the time though.

If you want a constant supply, know that Eastern Catholic and Orthodox Churches bless bodies of water during Theophany. I know the local Orthodox parishes in my area have blessed the local major river (Fraser River) and the Pacific Ocean for Theophany 👍

Putting a sponge in the bowl will keep the water from evaporating so quickly.
 
I have one in my bedroom/office/home altar area, used to be my grandparents, white marble cross. And I just bought a new one of Our Lady of Lourdes for the kitchen but one of the screw holes is broken so I have to figure out some way of getting it either gorilla glued or something so that I can put it up. And I always have a small bottle of holy water ready to go (thank goodness my parish church has plenty of holy water ‘on tap’ and available.
 
Yep, I put one up a while ago but I still forget to use it much of the time. I just use water from the baptism font at church. I have some Lourdes water but do not want to use it for that purpose b/c of evaporation.

Of course hubby thought it was ridiculous. :rolleyes:
