Do you have a holy water font in your home?

One inside the front door, one in the kitchen, one in each bedroom, upstairs hallway, downstairs hallway… Actually I have two in my room… One by the door and the other near my bed. Yep, we’re holy water freaks. :o

Thanks for all the interesting replies so far. I prefer to obtain the “EF” holy water, since it’s exorcized, and the prayers are so clear and impressive.

It’s true it doesn’t dry up as fast when you have a sponge in the font, but I don’t have one in mine anymore.

St. Thomas Aquinas once wrote something about diluting holy water, but I don’t do that… it’s not that hard to obtain, and most of the dispensers in churches are large! But in any case if you were going to dilute, you could probably do so only once, and you wouldn’t want the additional water to be more than 50% of the volume to which you have added it!

Yep, I put one up a while ago but I still forget to use it much of the time. I just use water from the baptism font at church. I have some Lourdes water but do not want to use it for that purpose b/c of evaporation.

Of course hubby thought it was ridiculous.

😛
Lourdes water is awesome. But… it’s not the same as holy water, which is holy because it is blessed by the Church. Lourdes water is water from the spring that is made holy because of its connection/origin with the Blessed Mother’s apparition there, St. Bernadette, and the miracles, etc.

But nevertheless, an excellent sacramental.

Is your husband Catholic?

I have four. One is meant to sit on the table. There is one at each door to the house and one in hall.

The water seems to evaporate quickly.

We have one by the front door for blessing ourselves as we leave the house and go out into the scary world! 😉 Yes, the water evaporates quickly. I specifically got a small font so we can refill every day practically. Our parish has a huge font of holy water so we bring some home regularly. One of our priests uses the old formula prayer when blessing the water. One doesn’t and I don’t know about the third.

i got this in Siena at St Dominics and its attached to my night table…i fill it with Holy Water from my Parish and add a drop from Lourdes at each fill… 👍

i love St.Catherine so much…

We have a holy water font on the wall next to the main entrance of our house. It’s a font with an image of St. Therese of Lisieux “the little flower.”

We need a Holy Water Sommelier’s ruling on this, what is the preferred temperature for drinking holy water? 😛
38 degrees.

That’s the average temperature of the Jordan River at the place where Christ was baptised by John, in early January.

I know this is an old post but I’ll answer anyway. Yes I have a font, I don’t have any holy water (I do have Lourdes water).

Here is an image of my font that is in my bedroom.

We bought a beautiful porcelain font right before our youngest was born. I didn’t have time to put it up before she arrived and now we can’t find it. We’ve looked several times and it’s nowhere to be found. I plan on tearing the house apart tomorrow to try to find it. I’m thinking I need to pray to St. Anthony tonight before I go to sleep to get some extra help finding it. Once we find it, I may get one for each of the bedrooms. For the record, we have a bottle full of holy water waiting for someplace to go.

I do have a holy water font in my home. Mine is just a plain white ceramic one. I think it was meant to be painted but I never did paint it. I am thinking about buying a couple of new ones and getting rid of the one that I have.

Holy Water: a bottle by the front door and a cruet in the Chapel. There use to be a font in the Chapel, but a certain little cat decided that it was her personal water dish 🙂

Also a bottle of Holy water is kept from the blessing of the baptismal water during the Great Vigil.

Do let us know if you find it. 😃

We struck out. We checked everywhere it could possibly have been, as well as numerous places it simply couldn’t have been and finally decided we’re going to have to buy another.
