Do you have a holy water fount in your home?

Years ago, my family decided to put holy water founts in our home, near the doors, so we could bless ourselves when leaving or returning. Whenever one of us goes on a trip, the whole family gathers around, we bless ourselves with holy water, and say a prayer.

Does anyone else do this practice?
 
I have a little one, and the water evaporates so fast during the summer - it is always hot down in Texas. 😃
 
I keep one by the door of my bedroom. I get in such a habit of crossing myself whenever I enter or exit the room that it drives me crazy if it isn’t there. Eventually, I hope to have one at the door of every room of my house, especially at the outer doors.
 
We have one at each entrance to the house and one in the hall way.

Keeping water in them is a challenge. The only time they seemed to last forever was when I was trying to rid the house of it during Holy Week.

My son has a collection. He started it when he was in Rome.
 
I voted no because we don’t have one, but I have my eye on one that I would love to get for by the front door. 😃

Well, think of it this way, it’s evaporating into the air so you can breathe in the blessings! 😃

I couldn’t vote really… we don’t have “fount”, but we have lots of little plastic bottles around the house that we use on a regular basis…
The open founts seem to dry up and evaporate too quickly… the sealed plastic bottles aren’t decorative or anything, but they’re handy and serve the right purpose!

We don’t have one either, but I’d also like to have one. Haven’t gotten it picked out yet though!

I have two, one by the door of my apartment, and the other by my bedroom door. Holy Spirit fonts.
 
One time, right before going on a trip, my family gathered around the fount to bless ourselves and say a Hail Mary for my safe return. Immediately, the whole room filled with the scent of roses, which eminated from the holy water fount (ours depicts the Holy Family). Everyone smelled it. After about 10 minutes, the smell stopped. I felt this was a sign that our Blessed Mother would protect all of us during the trip - she did!
 
I just inherited a lovely ceramic Italian one of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, that was my Aunt Josephine’s, who had passed on years ago to be with her Savior . I recently found it in my dad’s attic when I was going through things after my dad’s death.

I have not used it yet,but it is on the wall by the door in my bedroom. I wish there was a way to keep holy water in it without it drying up. I will treasure it whether I use it or not, as it reminds me of my dear aunt.
 
I have one a lovely Pieta one in my prayer room. I didn’t think the room would be complete without one! 😃
 
I have a Holy Water Font. I purchased it while visiting St. Anthony’s Chapel in Pittsburgh back in 1999. It has Jesus, Mary & Joseph on it. I took it down recently when we remodeled our house, but will put it back up this weekend, probably by the front door.🙂
 
I’m not sure how to vote – I have a font (a St. Francis one, that I got in Canada), but I haven’t hung it up on the wall yet. I do have plastic bottles of Holy Water. 🙂

I get a little nervous about using nails and picture hooks in plaster walls. I have some of those stick-on hooks, and I wonder if they are strong enough to support a font filled with Holy Water. I guess I should try just the empty font, first, and see how that goes. It’s not a very big font.
