I’m thinking about setting up a spot in my home to retreat to for prayer, but I’m having a hard time visualizing what this place would look like or how I’d even start to set it up.

If you don’t mind, would you share a quick picture and/or post a description of the what your home shrine/prayer corner looks like. Thanks.

That I don’t have, but I do have a bible open on my laundry table in the basement.

Actually, it came with the house, a previous owner left the bible. I asked the guy I bought it from whom was living next door- it wasn’t his.

During the Sprig/ Summer and Autumn months my prayer corner is outside on a lovely front porch.I go out there first thing n the morning, read my Magnificat ,say daily prayers and just take in the crisp morning air and enjoy the birds, etc.
In the winter months it’s my kitchen table😳

Outside prayer corner is the way to go…too many distractions indoors.

For personal prayer, usually, it’s just on my living room couch with my laptop because that’s where I read my prayers/novenas. There’s a crucifix on the wall opposite where I sit. I also have lots of spontaneous short prayers throughout the day when I hear that someone needs a prayer.

For family prayer, I usually have something on the middle of the dining room table. Right now I have a statue of Mary and a white rose in a vase. We’re saying a Hail Mary along with grace every evening when we gather for dinner.

Here’s a link-up where people have posted pictures of their prayer corners in their homes. If you click on a particular picture, it will take you their blog where they talk about their ideas in more detail.

I dedicated a wall in my bedroom as a shrine … sorry, I don’t have pictures … but it’s a wonderful way to pray.

I am also brainstorming an outdoor space. I’m not sure what to do about that either, but I have lots of space for that.

I am trying to decide between a spot in my bedroom and a spot in my office. My office is sometimes a guest room, so my bedroom might be the best place for it. 🤔

Our prayer corner, literally the NE corner of our livng room, with icons of Our Lady, Christ and saints. It also includes my cross collection. It’s the first thing one sees upon entering our humble abode.

Just hang a picture of the BVM or the Sacred Heart, and pray before it, or set up a May Altar.
You can pray anywhere you know. 🙂

I just hop on the couch with a laptop and my phones that have novenas and such bookmarked.
I have 2 durable rosaries hanging over the couch and 2 crucifixes from the coffins of Mom and husband in the room. Some holy cards stuck on the tv, My mother’s old Mary statue and a Pensive Christ on the mantel, some religious books laying around on tables and chairs, the chalk ware Sacred Heart and some saints in the hall on the floor waiting to be taken up to the bedroom, everything too cluttered for me to make a picture. Jesus and Mary understand, though I am also praying to them daily to help me clean up.

When I need a pretty place to pray, I go to church or to Adoration chapel or to a garden or cemetery.

Well, I’m course you can pray anywhere, and I do just that!

However, my house is crazy (toddlers). Sometimes you just need to shut a door and be in a place that puts you in a prayerful state of mind.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to have our own little spot.

Wow Max, that’s a lot of holy cards. 😉
Do you collect them or something?

It’s expanded since these were taken haha

And I guess so… I don’t really fanaticize about keeping them in good shape, though- all the backs are torn up from Scotch tape.

And that poster is a Bud Lite poster for their special edition Steelers bottles, so… 🙃🙃

I guess the Terrible Towel would be a 2nd Class relic if Myron Cope is ever canonized
