I just wanted to see how many of you had a picture of Pope Benedict the 16th in your home and which one. Also, if you do have one, do you think that it is important? I want to add one to my house as Pope Benedict the 16th is one of the reasons I will be entering into the church on Easter Vigil. Where do you have it placed in the home? We are having a baby in July and thought that it would be a nice to have the Pope watching over our baby. What do you think?
God Bless

Great idea! We have pictures of BXVI hanging up as we have a couple apostolic blessings (which include a picture). The one for our wedding is over the mantlepiece in the living room (it’s a pretty large one! ;)). We also got an apostolic blessing for our daughter’s first birthday, and that’s hanging in her room. He looks over her everytime she gets her diaper changed. She’s two now, and she recognizes the Pope. She calls him “Papa”. 🙂

I have a picture of the Pope on one of my Rosary boxes.

Sounds good to me.

I have a picture of him and also one of JPII in my kitchen. They are just postcard sized pictures. I’d like to get a picture of Mary to hang in there or a Last Supper picture.

Yes, although it’s sort of small… 3" x 5" maybe and it’s stuck in the frame of my Last Supper picture which hangs in the dining room.

Funny you should ask though… I was just watching a program on PBS about the Irish in Chicago and they said that in the 1960’s every good Irish family had 3 pictures on their wall: Jesus Christ, The Pope, and President JF Kennedy.

Made me wonder how many people today have a picture of the Pope in their home… and then I see this thread. How ironic.

Can you read my mind??!!!

😛

No, but I want one. I used to have a JPII magnet, but i don’t know what happened to it.:o

It migrated to my fridge.

Ooops, sorry—that one is also Benedict the 16th.

Yep 👍 We have a small photo of Pope Benedict… in a magnetic frame. It is on our refrigerator.

The Holy Father is making sure that I don’t go back on my Lenten promises. 😃 <but I didn’t place it there for Lent. :rotfl: It has been there for about 3 years now; I just love to see Papa Ben’s cheerful smile, as I’m doing things in the kitchen>.

btw… we also have several portraits of our late Pope John Paul II in the house!

As for me I prefer pics of Jesus. He is the one who will be looking over my family if I get one one day. I like Pope Benny a lot dont get me wrong… but he does lot scary sometimes on pictures… 😛

Funny how these things strike us. I always saw him as jolly-looking. Party Pope! 😛

Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only one who thought this! For some reason something about his eyes scare me, so no I wouldn’t hang a pic in my house. I’d put up a pic of Jesus instead.

I have one over my computer. It’s a picture taken right after he was elected Pope and over his picture it says “Habemus Papam”.

Yes, we have one, about 8x12, in our family room, along with a picture of the Divine Mercy, and a statue of Mary that I made for my mother about 45 yrs ago.

Peace,
Linda

Linda… Wow! You actually made a statue! How cool is that! Would you mind telling us about it? I mean, what is it made out of… etc.? I’m interested, because my late father used to carve small statues of Our Lady (even though he was not Catholic… he loved her!).

He made several, out of beautiful wood… which he stained and varnished. I still have one to this day. It was the last one he carved, and it isn’t varnished. But I cherish it. I recently had it blessed, in fact.

I would love to hear about the statue you made for your mother!

God bless.
