Island Oak:
Not yet, but I have a beautiful San Damiano cross my parents brought back for me from Assisi, Italy–where the original resides–hanging in my living room. I have to confess to being a little hesitant in my past to display religious symbolism in my home–in large part b/c so many of our friends were not Catholic. But much of it is so lovely AND inspiring I am looking to add more pieces now that I’m a little older, wiser and secure enough to proclaim my faith.
I’m finding myself doing the same thing Island Oak. It must be a little bit about growing up - or, as my sister puts it, putting on our Big Girl Pants!:rotfl:

I have a DormSized Sacred Heart statue. It finally has rested on my bookshelf, after being out, then ‘put away’ as I have many non-Catholic/anti-Catholic friends. But I finally Got Over That, and brought it back out. 😃

I want to build a prayer area/shrine (?) to put my rosaries, prayer cards, etc at; but the lack of space sorta hinders this.

I can identify with a number of people who felt a little hesitant about displaying religious objects in their house but, like them, because am now more secure in my Faith I am comfortable having a picture of the Sacred Heart, a picture of Mary and small crucifixes over the door of every room.

A problem I had with pictures of the Sacred Heart was that they are so girly. . I finally found one that looked masculine and I have that on display.

I tried to post an image of it but couldn’t.

I found this one on e-bay. I too had a problem with how bad the artwork was (effeminite). I searched a long time to find this. It is by C. Bosseron Chambers (the catholic Rockwell). What significance does the hands have?

I have a Sacred Heart picture on my mantle in my kitchen (that’s the downstairs room I use the most). It isn’t framed yet, so I need to get a frame for it.

In my bedroom, I have framed images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary – those pics are beautiful – I got them in Canada, and they show Jesus and Mary standing outdoors, framed by trees and bushes at the bottom, and colorful cloud formations in a blue sky, at the top.

I voted other.

The Sacred Heart is a western devotion that does not have any corresponding devotion in the east. Actually it breaks one of the basic rules of iconography, that of showing internal organs.
This is interesting and has struck a chord with me. Does this basic rule of iconography apply to east only?

I live in a supported living arrangement so I have had to keep my Sacred Heart (and Immaculate Heart-did we forget this?) in my bedroom rather than the main area of the apartment. But it’s right in the doorway so everyone who comes into my bedroom notices it.😃

Yes I do!!!
Not only several pictures all over the house, but a beautiful statue I bought after years of looking for one that had such a loving expression.😃
If I knew how to post a photo here I would show it to you and tell you the story of how I finally got it, but I am no computer expert.
Sorry.
