Do you have MLK Day off on Monday?

our tuesday professor has cancelled class so that we can all watch the presidential swearing in cermony. Nice gesture but I am most likely going to be studying during that time.

I think he would. Its law school so a president being sworn in is a big deal. The school is going to have it running in the student lounge and the big lecture halls. Since its during the morning class he decided to cancel the afternoon class so the classes stayed on scheudle.

My personal opinion is that i haven’t watched the last ones so why start with this one? I think its a waster of a 100 million dollar party after one of the longest elections ever!
 
Yep, we get off at Duquesne University. The professors seem to keep forgetting, but so do I.

I’ll be practicing, hopefully, if I can work up the motivation to go out into the cold.
 
No, which is not good because daughter’s school is out and no extended care…

Get this:
My 8 year old in public school has the day off, but my 5 year old in private Catholic school does not. She will be the only family member not home that day. 😦 Maybe I should call in sick for her. 😃
 
Nope. I have to work every day including holidays.
I’m just thankful to get Sunday off.
 
I do and am going to use that opportunity to go to Mass. Then I might shop. I didn’t get to during Christmas, and I’ve been feeling a bit housebound.

Oh, that can be tough. Do you have anyone around you…any friends who stay at home, who might be willing to help?
 
Yeah I will have it off, and I got Friday off too. Uncle Sam is generous… sometimes… 😉
 
Yup, we get any holiday off since the clinic I work for has no urgent care. But then again, our clinic looks for any excuse to close. 😛
 
My workplace has this day off, but I’m going in coz the pile of work on my desk is too high…😦

Both boys are off school tomorrow, and so is my DH - but then he’s always got Mondays scheduled off. :rolleyes:
 
Yup. We have school off tommorow, and I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do 🤷 . Just give a special prayer of thanks for Dr. King and all he did.

I would love to have Mondays off…Mondays are so painful, unless I have the off for a holiday. lol
 
I just realized at 7AM this morning (looking at the Calendar on the fridge) that my son didn’t have school today! :doh2:

Thank goodness my MIL was available to watch him…
I’m clueless sometimes! :o

I also get Cesar Chavez day off, but my kids are in school that day. I guess that will be a true holiday!!!
 
Nope, it is just another day. The only days we get off are real world holidays, Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years(not really that important)
 
No day off here, and I work in a bank! It was a pretty slow day. My mom even called last night to ask what I was going to do with my day off! I was also reminding customers all day that even though we were there, the Fed was off today and their deposits wouldn’t be posted to their accounts until Tuesday at midnight. Fun, fun, fun!

Back home in the South we always, always had the day off. I wonder if this is just my college, or if the holiday just isn’t as big a deal here in Indiana?

Yeah, our school doesn’t give any ‘minor’ holidays off besides the ones people get together with family for (if that makes sense…). They rarely give snow days, either. 🤷
