I believe Christ founded a Church that would be visible to the world. I believe that is why we have Church buildings.
A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

Hi Ianman,

I don’t know if you are personally opposed to contraception (except abortifacients of course) and I believe most of Protestantism is not, but have you ever considered the parallels in the increase use of contraception with the increase of adultery, divorce, abortion and finally the normalization of homosexuality? Have you ever read Pope Paul VI’s Humanae Vitae where he predicted such things would happen when contraception gained wide use?

Thank you…your meekness and humility are evident in your responses and one day you’ll make a great Catholic. 👍

I have been in and out of this topic, so if this question has been answered, just point me to the post.

What is the Southern Baptist view of the 10 commandments? If we are saved by faith alone are the commandments still binding?

I haven’t posted for a week or so, I’m taking a break from pondering theology for a while. However, since you asked I’ll answer to the best of my ability.

The Southern Baptist view of the 10 commandments is that they are part of the Jewish Law. The Jewish Law tells us what is “sin” and points the way for Jesus. However, keeping the Jewish law doesn’t save someone. The Ten commandments are to be kept, not in a attempt to earn salvation, but as part of a life devoted to Christ. This topic, in part, goes to the very long faith/works thread.

LOL, I know it can get addictive.

And this is precisely the point where I get lost in the Sola Fide argument. What effect does not keeping the commandments have on salvation?
