Do you have to confess before baptism?

My parish priest says that any sins committed up to the point of baptism, for adults, do not have to be confessed. I thought you had to confess all your sins before being baptized in order for that baptism to be valid.
 
Your priest is correct. Baptism is the gateway to the sacraments, which means that other sacraments cannot be received until the person is baptized. Baptism also wipes away all sins committed up to that point, so confession is not needed until one sins after baptism.
