Do you have to confess before confirmation?

I’m a baptized Christian and a candidate for entrance into the Church this Easter. I’ve always understood that I would have to go to first confession before receiving the Eucharist but my priest now tells me that the sacrament of confirmation wipes away all previous sins. Is he correct?

Assuming you understood him correctly, no. It is baptism that wipes away all previous sin. Baptized persons who are preparing for confirmation, particularly if they are entering the Church as adults, should go to confession first.
