When practicing Catholics are on vacation, aren’t they still obliged to attend Sunday Mass?

Yes, of course. Only if they are somehow prevented from attending Mass because there is no Mass offered in the area or they cannot reasonably find a Mass to attend in an unfamiliar area in which they are vacationing is there just reason to miss Mass on a Sunday or holy day.

In my opinion, far too many Catholics take their Sunday/holy day obligation far too lightly while vacationing. The same people who carefully research the best places to shop and play while on a trip in an exotic location, planning their itinerary down to the finest detail, will throw up their hands and exclaim that they have no idea how to either find a Mass or fit it into their schedule.

It is not that hard to find a Mass in most parts of the United States and in many parts of the world, particularly with tools like MassTimes.org available on the Internet. And if you really are stumped, ask your travel agent to help.
