Do you have to pay for RCIA?

My friend is thinking of becoming a Catholic after having a visit to my church. Do you have to pay for RCIA and, if so, how much? He would also want to know when is a good time to attend.
 
So far as I know, no, there is no charge for RCIA. RCIA classes usually start in the fall after Labor Day.
