Do you hold hands during Our Father?

I see both sides. I understand that the rubrics call for not holding hands and I can see how it is cheesy. As a parent with two kids with immunity issues, I also don’t care for the spreading of germs via hand holding. Please don’t blow your nose and then ask me to hold your hand! Also receiving Communion after holding a sneezers hand gives me the heebee geebies.

I also see how this may be an issue where outsiders or people of other faiths see this Traditional Catholic position as being cold and unfriendly. To them, not holding an offered hand is akin to a slap in the face. Holding hands with someone breaks down that personal barrier and we are invited into each other’s space. Everyone has different comfort levels with body space. I bet the “hugger” type of people enjoy and feel community while hand holding. I bet the “give me my own space” people feel extremely uncomfortable with this practice.

NO.

Just say NO.

😃

I’ve actually been chewed out by a Deacon for not wanting to hold hands.
“We are a hand holding parish” I was told. Ummm, nope. Nope. Not me.
Now if someone is going to look like they’re going to cry, I’ll break down and hold their hand. But people who try to accost me and pry my hands apart or stare me down???
Just makes me angry when I should be focused on something else.
And then I’m angry at myself for getting angry. :doh2:
Again, more drama that we don’t need.
I got the memo about community years ago folks. I work in the parish, I get it.
I like you, love you even, but I don’t wanna hold hands.

I dislike the practice but I have only ever seen Americans do it.

Sometimes, I have to hold a little one’s hand or else he will have the body posture of a wet noodle. Other than that, I keep my hands to myself.
