Really? Is that true?And you only technically need to go to confession for mortal sins
Well, in a sense, yes, insofar that mortal sins can normally only be forgiven through confession, but one of the Precepts of the Church is that we go to confession at least once a year, particularly during Lent. Really though, regular confession is a good and pious practice, even when one only has venial sins to confess to. Who wouldn’t want absolution on a regular basis?Really? Is that true?
Yes. But it seems like a waste of the gift of such a wonderful sacrament to only use it as a means of getting mortal sins absolved. That would seem to be a utilitarian approach to the sacrament, which seems to me to be not quite the right approach.That’s what we were taught in RCIA although it is good practice to go regularly anyway for venial sins
