Do you keep your promises to God?

I have to say and ashamedly so, that sometimes I do, and sometimes not. I often forget to keep my promise to God. It makes me feel ashamed when I don’t keep my promises to Him. I will say the Act of Contrition for offending Him when I remember that I broke a promise to Him.

Do you always keep your promises to Him?
 
I always try to keep my promises to God. You have to be careful of the promises you make.

For instance I promised God at one point, and I know this is silly now, that I would give the church $500 if I got this high paying job. I got the job and then kept putting off my gift to the church, After about 6 months I gave the money to church one Sunday during mass. The VERY next day I got laid off. The thought crossed my mind to cancel the check but I didn’t. I ended up goign 4 months without work and am still suffering financially from that ordeal.

My lesson learned is that I should’ve donated that money right away instead of sefishly buying mysefl stuff before I gave to the chruch. I feel like I was taught a lesson.

well, i don’t know if it was a taught lesson from God. but iam glad that you kept your promise to Him even if it was a bit later. at least you kept it! 👍
 
I don’t make any promises to God. I thank him for keeping all of His promises.

well, He always keeps His promises, always:) He never goes back on His word. God is merciful, and true and eternal. wonderful Father!:bowdown2: :signofcross:
 
I have to answer sometimes because every time I go to confession, I promise to sin no more.

Somehow it never seems to work out right:(

However, some promises (like to fast a certain day) I do keep. I think it is interesting how some days when I choose to fast someone happens to be having a BBQ or something and brings me food…that takes strength.

i don’t miss meat on fridays anymore. really don’t:thumbsup:
