I heard Billy Graham denies Jesus is only way to the Father??

Do you know details?

I couldn’t listen to the thing on the internet…

I highly doubt it since the last time Billy Graham came out of his public retirement in 2005 was to talk at Camden Yards in July of 06.

His son Franklin since has taken over his ministry.

I saw the video of him in this regard, it was disturbing, I used to think he had a good message he was delivering, but with this last one, I have formed my reseverations about him.

Yes, he literally sais there is more then one path, he embraces all denominations as being the path to God, he’s gotten rather new age about it all and doesn’t even know if he himself is saved.

Here is the teaching from** Introduction to the Devout Life by Saint Francis de Sales:**
He who unjustly takes away his neighbour’s good name is guilty of sin, and is bound to make reparation, according to the nature of his evil speaking; since no man can enter into Heaven cumbered with stolen goods, and of all worldly possessions the most precious is a good name. Slander is a kind of murder; for we all have three lives–a spiritual life, which depends upon the Grace of God; a bodily life, depending on the soul; and a civil life, consisting in a good reputation. Sin deprives us of the first, death of the second, and slander of the third.
The part of YouTube I watched is very short. Basically He was saying he “does not judge people, that is in God’s hands.” There is nothing wrong with it. That’s what we Catholics always say. Only God can look into a person’s heart.

I seriously doubt Billy Graham is saying Jesus is not the only way. Of course Jesus is the only way, but that does not mean a person who believes other religion will not be saved.
Remember Christ will reveal himself to a dying person and offer a last chance. Who are we to say such a person will not accept the Lord at the last second? In that case, even that person has believed other religion all his life time, he still can be saved.

If we are not sure about what we heard, it is the best not to spread our incorrect perceptions.

Take heed the teaching of St. Francis de Sales.

Watch the whole video before you make a statement on it, otherwise you are doing so out of ignorance. He’s supposed to be a leader, people listen to what he has to say, it’s not to say he’s perfect, but he is held accountable to a higher standard due to his position.

I’m wondering why this was not posted in noncatholic religions? And also wondering why Catholics would be interested in what he might have said or believed? Does it apply to us?

I doubt if Billy Graham had such a view as he would be calling Jesus a liar.

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. **No one comes to the Father except through me. **

What is the link to watch the whole video?
Since I have not seen the reponse about the link of the whole video, I guess no one knows or has watched the whole video.

My main point is to do with virtue. Too often I see people jump into conclusion or spreading rumors before knowing the truth.

Billy Graham is a Protestant preacher. He is not a Catholic. But as a faithful follower of Jesus, shouldn’t one pay attention to how we respond to people and things?

Usually YouTube plays the key point of a video. According to what I watched, Graham did not say anything about “Jesus is not the only way”. If, that is if, that’s what other posters on this thread watched, then I really have to question where did all these fuss come from? Yes, on some YouTube screen, there were words stating that Graham said Jesus is not the only way.
But we all know how media is. And we all should have our independent thinking, not blindly to believe anything.

Not only Graham as a leader, should be held accountable about his words, we, as God’s children, should all be held accountable of our words. Slander is murder, like St. Francis de Sales said. Graham, though not a Catholic, is a servant of God, a famous servant. The attack could be twofold: 1) What a shame about this famous preacher** 2)** Since this famous preacher said so, then Jesus is not the only way. Can’t you see the possible evil consequence? And why in the world will anyone, before knowing exactly what it is, help this matter in any nature?

Again, my point is about virtue, before we know anything for sure, we ought not to jump into conclusion, pass any judgment and help spread any rumor.

I watched the whole video when I frequented grace centered forums. I found out they hate Catholics so I as well as almost all of the rest of the Catholics have been banned from there. If you want to find it, go for it, look up Charles Sloan there, he’s a good Anti-Catholic that posted it in the first place, just don’t tell him you are Catholic or he likely will not give you the time of day. I can go back there under a proxy server and search for you, but I have better things to do, especially debating with someone that doesn’t have the facts which means they don’t have a reasonable platform to stand upon with this matter, it would be like an athiest telling us the bible is wrong and never have even read it. Google up the name of that board, I won’t even bother providing a link to it, no point in giving them a popular plug after the way they treated us Catholics.

I will not have the time or energy to Google search an anti-Catholic site. And I have no interest in debating with you or anyone else. It is neither my intention to defend a Protestant preacher.

You said you watch the whole thing. Did Graham black and white say "Jesus is not the only way’? Did he?
If not, then it is all to do with people’ interpretation and intention.
I seriously doubt Graham plainly said so.

That’s why I said my concern is to do with virtues.
As a Catholic, shouldn’t one working on virtues constantly?

Even for an enemy, one should not freely cast judgment and say something about the person in the nature of slander, especially without a full understanding. Graham is not an enemy, he is a brother in Christ. Basically Graham was saying he “does not judge people, that is in God’s hands,” while being asked by Larry King if people in other religion would be saved.

By twisting this, one is making a scandal of this preacher, and reaffirming the lie of “Jesus is not the only way.”

Yeah, he literally sais, Jesus is not the only way, that there are many paths to God, not just Christianity. I’m just relaying the message and I’m chalking it up to him having doubts with his faith at the time he said it, that he made a mistake and will eventually come around and face up to it, hopefully renouncing what he said in public.

From that excerpt, all he articulated was salvation by invincible ignorance. He said, everyone is a member of the Body of Christ in the sense that God calls everyone. He also sounded like he expected to go to heaven…did someone say he didn’t? Perhaps that was from a different part of the interview.

But anyway, he said precisely toward the end of that clip of non-Christians:*“They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their heart that they need something that they don’t have. And they turn to the only light that they have, and I think they are saved, and they’re going to be with us in heaven.”*From what I can tell, he is espousing Catechism paragraphs 847-848.

I watched it several times and did not hear what you said Graham said.
And Robert Schuller, the host of Hour of Power responded, “I am so glad you said that, there is wideness of God’s mercy.”

What Graham said is very Catholic. I am very glad to hear what he said.

Where did you hear Graham plainly claim “Jesus is not the only way**??**”

That was not the full interview, I saw much more then what’s showing on that clip. I’ll see if I can find the larger version. Meanwhile, be sure you are listening to all of it, don’t skip over parts you don’t understand, and you will find, even with this short snippet, things that go against what we are taught. God’s mercy is not wide folks, he won’t forgive the unrepentant, do I have to bring in some sola scripture to back it up? We have those that “think” they are in line with the Lord blowing themselves up in public areas, yet they “think” they are following God and what he teaches. There is something important to keep in mind with the churches views, you have to use some discresion with what it is saying or you fall into the same path you claim so many protestants fall into.

Billy Graham is a very holy man, he has alway’s stood by catholics and the Catholic Church. He is a very awesome preacher who’s voice reaches out to the ends of the earth, calling people to come to Jesus. He has preached in Catholic Churches and also in other churches of different denominations.

Pope John Paul II once said to him “we are brothers”

I have many of his sermons taped, many from way back early 50’s late 40’s … Jesus is number one on his lips. So many times in his sermons he would say Pope John Paul was right when he said …so and so, Pope John Paul II was right when he said … so and so. And he alway’s told the people about the great faith of Mother Teresa.

There are many christian groups who are anti-catholic, they are anti- truth flooding the internet with baloney, against the teachings of the Catholic Faith, against good honest preachers like Billy Grapham and Martin Luther King and others.

These anti groups are large and many, they have recieved the spirit of falsehood from good for nothing evil preachers like Tammy Faye and her bi sexual devorced gay husband Jim Baker and from a slew of other preachers, like Peter Popoff and all these baloney healings which he already was caught on, but still continues to go from city to city to country to country. False Preachers on the tv set all day long, 24 - 7 giving people the spirit of falsehood … they preach vanity, lies and deciet are constantly there lips, giving the people what they want to hear (vanity) and for that the people are trapped in the spirit of falsehood.

Pope John Paul II when he was in the United States before he became pope said this

“We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that the wide circles of the American society, or the wide circles of the Christian community, realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel.” (Notable & Quotable, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla (who became Pope John Paul II), Wall Street Journal, Nov. 9, 1978.)

People are blind to what is taking place … false evil preachers flooding the nations, flooding the air waves, and the people are flocking to them like a moth to a light.
