Do you know and attend church on the days of obligation?
yes, yes I do 🙂

At 7PM on both All Saints Day mass and All Souls Day mass in the Extraordinary Form at our Cathedral. I look forward to attending the EF for both.

Yes, but out of desire. Never out of obligation.__

Just not a “check all the boxes” kind of guy, I guess.

Good for you. I think this whole “obligation” thing is sad. God wants us to go to Mass under fear of punishment? I dont think so.

I don’t really think of “obligation” that way. It’s closer for me how, like, I tell myself to eat a vegetable rather than potato chips for snack. Or get up and go to work when I don’t want to. It’s not that I’m fearing punishment, it’s that I recognize my natural desires aren’t always in line with what is best.

And if you miss do you confess it as if it were a mortal sin?

Depends on why I miss it, for me. I don’t think I’ve ever missed one that I was able to attend in the first place.

Actually, every Sunday is an “obligation” as well, and it may be a mortal sin if we miss Mass without a good reason.

The simple fact is that if we were not required somehow to show up at places like school, work, and Mass, many people would not go on their own, so we need motivators, such as the threat of being disciplined, fired, or going to Hell, at least to get us going. Hopefully we evolve to the point of going to these activities mostly because we appreciate the need for them or even enjoy them and want to be there.

Yes. Though I try to go to church every day. And on days I miss i still make sure to do the readings of the day.

I do not attend every Sunday, which is probably unusual on a site where the majority of posters would probably attend, given they are posting on a specifically Catholic forum. I do attend Christmas and Easter, of course, and once a year I try to make confession during Lent.

Love going to Mass and go as often as I can. One is excused if they have a valid reason. But it is always best to go if one is able to.
