Title pretty much says it all. Not looking for a general vocation website but for some ideas from CAF members who might recommend a community that has a strong contemplative component to their daily life. Known for being very orthodox, too, and wearing a habit. Some degree of austerity is also a consideration. Thanks!!

I would have recommended franciscans of the immaculate but the are currently undergoing a vatican-sponsor purge and may become much more loose if the vatican commisioner have their way.

Most Holy Trinity Monastery, Petersham, MA
Maronite Monks of Adoration
Beautiful website. Maronitemonks.org

No need to change rites to enter. They offer retreats.

Jamal,

I’m sorry I have not been able to answer your message you left for me- for some reason I’m not able to access it anymore? I don’t know why, but I thought to remedy the problem I would just answer you here since what you asked in the message pertained to this post’s question-

I was going to second the suggestion of The Franciscans Friars of the Renewal. I have met them only on a few occasions, but mind you, this was like a decade ago and since then I’ve not really had any affiliation with them or spoken with them or know what is going on with the order.

Its also a very tough life from what I learned by speaking with them, and to be quite frank, I’m not sure I’d want a son of mine to join only because of that fact, let alone lead a friendly stranger (you) to them! (I’m being emotional today) Yet, these men seemed quite strong in the Lord I believe because they are closely following the ways of St. Francis, as much as possible. I really enjoyed hearing of their experiences and speaking with them.

I also want to stress I am no person very familiar with all the possible men’s religious orders, so keep that in mind! I don’t even know a lot of women’s religious orders either, and just spend my time visiting the places I had particular interest in. So, I’m no expert by any means! Only sharing what I experienced and what I’ve gleaned from those experiences. Have you spoken with a vocational director at your parish?

Again, I apologize for not getting a message back to you. I do hope that you see this post and also I wish you the best in your search!

Thanks everyone! Your suggestions have been very helpful and they will give me something for exploration.
