Do you know of any Christian theology that supports this idea?

My christian friend has “claimed her husband’s soul for the kingdom of Heaven.” Her husband is agnostic. While I am aware that mormons have a belief in this idea I have not heard of christians following this idea. I also know that as Catholics we do not follow this belief. It seems to run counter to free will to be able to claim someone else’s soul for Christ. Do you know where a christian would get this idea?

We don’t own each other. God does own us; yet he gives us great freedom. To suggest that one can claim another for heaven is something that not even God does. He wants our love which must be freely given. It cannot be coerced.
