Do you know people who in the past were liar’s n thieves But now r Christian?

I was also a notorious skirt chaser and booze hound. Still like my booze though 😬

Yes, I do. People can change, isn’t that what many of us pray for every day?
 
There’s this guy I know who’s named Dismas… He died a few years back, though. Great dude.
 
I know drug dealers, thieves, liars, and deviants. Most aren’t Catholic or even Christian. I naturally don’t trust people and it takes time for me to evaluate them. I commend any effort on their part to turn their lives around. Nevertheless, I’m skeptical about them…
 
I know people that are thieves and liars and profess to Christians. As written folks can change.
 
The only thing that kept me out of jail more than one time I did go was fear of my dad lol
 
Yes a guy I worked with. Got saved. And even wrote a book about it called “a devils tail”
 
I meet a lot of “Christians” in my line of work. You’d be amazed at how many “God-fearing” men get unjustly sentenced to long sentences. Last two who have used that were rapists and attempted murderers (didn’t get job done because they chose the wrong way to use the possibly wrong tool).

There are also the ones who “convert” while in jail, prison, and believe that because they have “converted” they shouldn’t be serving “X” number of years for robbery, rape, murder, selling drugs, things like that. Before the jail expansion, we had an evergreen shrub that caught fire from a cigarette butt that was carelessly thrown. Used to say that the “burning bush” provided the inspiration for the apparent mass conversion of inmates. My personal favorite was a child raper who claimed to have found God (LDS version), and that God didn’t think he needed to spend more time incarcerated.

Also love the thieves who profess to believe in, and follow the Ten Commandments… meanwhile they are being convicting of stealing everything not welded down.
 
So basically no one can come to Christ in your mind (unless through a cradle) and the Holy Spirit is asleep and not working? What is the point of this? It’s very cynical about conversion.
 
Past and present. All Christiams (except 2) are sinners. Are liars worse than whatever sins other Christians commit?
 
Here’s the thing… “converting” is an expected act if you are a criminal. One of the aspects of psychopathy is being very, very good at telling people what they want to hear. It’s one of the reasons religious folks/entities make great targets for psychopaths.

Straykat: you have obviously never read correspondence from inmates. They will literally say anything in order to get out of jail faster. What do you think the reaction would be, if an inmate said to the court… your Honor, I have had months to sit and think about my actions. After much self-scrutiny, I have … found … SATAN.

Inmates “find God” because they believe it is what’s expected. The rapists/attempted murderers. Both of them talked about how they “found God,” and lived godly lives, and all that. They were certainly not displaying godly lives when they raped and beat a woman half-to-death. These same people then started complaining about their trial counsel, the jury getting it “wrong,” stuff like that.
 
Well, I can’t doubt your experience… but I am sorry if that’s a large part of your experience. There are better examples at least, out in daily life 🙂
