Dear Brothers and Sisters,

God willing, I’ll start a series of threads on the 33 Days of Preparation for “Total Consecration” to Jesus through Mary according to the method of St. Louis De Montfort – beginning Nov. 9 ( Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome) ending Dec. 12 ( Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe).

Whenever I’ve done this before on any Forum, people have joined me and we’ve been blessed journeying together. The dates of beginning and end are important:
  1. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Unborn, and the evil of Abortion has increased throughout the world. Thousands of babies are murdered in their Mother’s wombs each day! It is important to seek God and ask Him to change hearts --while we also pray to change laws which permit this senseless killing of the innocent and defenseless children in the wombs of Mothers. In His Mercy, may He hear our prayers.
  2. Every human heart was created to become a temple of the Holy Spirit — a dwelling place for God, so beginning on the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica can remind us of our place within the Church and the great gift of our Baptism into Christ. To Consecrate or re-consecrate ourselves totally to Jesus through Mary on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is also a reminder of this particular Apparition of Mary, in which she appeared to a convert as a Pregnant Young Woman.
Please consider reading St. Louis de Montfort’s treatise on “True Devotion”, which explains this “Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary”. See HERE for online version. I’d be grateful for your comments. The Church needs to encourage devotion to Mary at this time of History more than ever before since the secular world is speaking about “The Year of the Woman” without a true knowldege of the most important woman God created! Jesus knew the world needed Mary and so dying on the Cross He told His beloved disciple John:
Behold your Mother!
By God’s Grace may all God’s children hear and obey Jesus, as John did and take Mary into our homes and into our lives. Mary truly is the most important woman God created and she is both Mother and Model for the Church. The Church needs to make Jesus known through Mary. When Jesus came the first time, He came through Mary and when He comes at the end, He will again come through her. Her Immaculate Heart will triumph because she is totally one with the Heart of Christ her Son.

I look forward to these threads, MariaChristi, and to participating in them. Nov 9 happens to be my mother’s birthday. So it will be an especially wonderful day.

Thanks, my dear lilypadrees, for your reply and willingness to participate. Yes, and how sweet to have your mother’s birthday on Nov. 9 also – a very special day !

We will also be within the season of Advent and pondering Jesus’s Mother’s birth on Dec. 8 – what a wondrous union there is between Mother and Child – on earth and in heaven.

There is, actually, only one person in all humanity of whom God has one picture, and in whom there is a perfect conformity between what He wanted her to be and what she is, and that is His Own Mother. Most of us are a minus sign, in the sense that we do not fulfill the high hopes the Heavenly Father has for us. But Mary is the equal sign. The Ideal that God had of her, that she is, and in the flesh. The model and the copy are perfect; she is all that was foreseen, planned, and dreamed. The melody of her life is played, just as it was written. Mary was thought, conceived, and planned as the equal sign between ideal and history, thought and reality, hope and realization.

Thanks hazcompat,

Venerable Fulton J.Sheen’s writings and TV appearances did much to help so many! Thanks for posting this lovely description of Mary from his book, “The World’s First Love”. May God inspire more of the clergy with such Love for our Mother, that thy may preach it as did Ven. Fulton Sheen.

Thanks for the excerpt from his book.

Thanks lilypadres,

For taking time to read this thread and for clicking the heart! May God give us all a tender devotion to our Mother for He truly desires that we love one another as He has loved us – I can’t even begin to imagine how much He loves Mary, His Mother whom He shares with us!
