Hi, I’m in my 40’s and have been praying to God ever since I was a child with the sign of the Cross. Recently Ive wanted to get closer to our Blessed Mother and so there are times I’m praying to my Lord and then “finish” and then want to pray to our Mother and so I sit there wondering do I end the prayer to my Father with the ending sign of the Cross like I’ve done always and then start praying to our Blessed Mother or pray to her and then do the ending sign of the Cross.
I know (i think) there’s no right or wrong way I’m mainly curious as to how others pray to her and if it differs from your prayers to our Lord.

Thank you

The sign of the cross is kinda like a callup and a signoff…I’m starting my prayer now…then I’m all done!

Sort of a personal thing I guess

I pray with Mary to God and ask her and the other saints to pray for me.

I make the sign of the cross whenever I enter in to prayer.

That’s nice thank you for sharing that, I always pray separately, first to Jesus as I’ve always done and then our Blessed Mother. At one point I was praying to God, thought about saying something to Mary and then I realized I didn’t finish praying to God and it was one of those moments where you need Catholic Answers.

Yes, I too always start and end with the sign of the Cross. I’ve always only prayed to God so when I wanted to start praying to Mary (sometimes at different times) I wasn’t sure about the formality for lack of a better word.

I don’t neccessarily call it praying to Mary, I think of it more as asking for her intercession with God…not sure it really matters…

Oh I see, I want to talk to her like a mother, have a conversation and ask her to guide me to be a better wife and mother. I’ve never asked her to intercede that I can recall.
I’m so new to this I’m not even sure what I’m doing is right, surely God can lead me to be a better mother and wife too. I’m just thinking out loud.

What your doing sounds perfectly fine! May you be most blessed!

Are you sure you meant to word it like that? Surely you meant to put it the other way round?
