For example… like at a restaurant before you eat? I have before. This is more like a poll 😃

Only if we are going to lunch with the pastor. Otherwise I don’t.

Yes . It can be a little scary at first but you get used to it and it is a witness to some and it encourages other Christians to be a witness which we need more of in this day and age.

I pray the rosary every day – the first two decades I say with my first cup of coffe – the next decade I say at the computer with EWTN – the fourth decade I say walking the block to the street car so this decade is definitely in public --lastly the fifth decade I say every night after I’ve read my Bible and before I turn out the light – the Rosary is a strong part of my life!

when we (my parents and I) go out to eat, we do say Grace before Meals.

I have at a restaurant. Sometimes praying here at home is tough because of stubborn, non christian tendencies lurking… but I pray anyway. Even got the stubborn one praying the Our Father with me every morning…

We have said grace before meals in restaurants - complete with the sign of the cross - for years. 🙂

I also pray my favorite chaplet for world peace if I’m on a bus, plane, or train. I get motion sickness easily so can’t read. Last time I was on a plane I also struggled with claustrophobia as my seat-mate was a huge (well over 6’) man who spilled over onto my seat. I prayed the chaplet for the entire trip to get my mind off the crowding. Hope the prayers were just as effective for peace.

My husband and I pray Everytime before I eat and so do our children:) Even if we are going out for shakes or donuts.
Also, if we see a bum out on the streets while we are out, we say a Hail Mary for them.
Our two oldest go to a public school. They pray before they eat lunch everyday and were told they ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PRAY IN SCHOOL! I told them that they cannot stop them from praying and I had a talk with the school. So, they claim they are the only two students in the entire school that pray. They are wonderful kids to be able to do that in front of all their classmates. My daughter is in 5th grade and she gets made fun of for praying. She doesn’t care though, she includes them in her prayers too!
I guess I do pray in public, to answer your question. It’s just not that often for me probably because I don’t really get out that often…lol…🙂

Yes. Everywhere. In the specific example of grace before meals: with the Sign of the Cross before and after, at every meal, in public and in private, alone or with others (and in the case of the latter, whether they share my beliefs or not). When I was working, I even prayed before meals with clients…and so did all of my colleagues. It is part of who I am.

My previous spiritual director taught me to be fearless in prayer. So I’ll whip out my breviary on the train, my rosary on the subway, my Bible while sitting on a park bench. I don’t think anything of it. 🙂

Yes I do, and am very comfortable with it. It seems that this is rarely done as I seldom see others doing so.

Pax Christi!

Yes before meals. With sign of the cross.

Otherwise only silently.

God bless.

Sign of the cross + grace before meals. Both when eating alone and with my family

I cross myself if I pass a church or shrine (roadside Marian shrine; there are lots here) and if I pass a churchyard I cross myself and say a short prayer for the departed. That said; it’s common enough here.

I tend not to say a loud Grace before meals as I say a silent Grace anyhow. I do go walking with my Rosary, although I tell my beads with my hand in my pocket.

I want to be fearless, too. Thank you for this post. 🙂

I cross myself before races, and I’ll say a prayer in a restaurant.

As a family we pray before all meals. No matter if it is thanksgiving or we are at taco bell.

The day I cannot pray to my God in public and thank him for the food I eat and the breath I take is the day I either care more about my appearance in this world. My wife prays at work when she starts a new project and she offers everything to God. My daughter will be at a gymnastics meet in a couple of hours, she will pray before she competes for the safety of herself and the other kids.

We are called to pray unceasingly. To offer our every move and breath to God. This is our job as Christians.

Sure, all the time. Except I guess no one would know because I’m praying silently - either the Rosary or quick, spontaneous prayers.

I do make the Sign of the Cross when an ambulance with sirens on goes by, though.

Yes. Grace before meals, also the Rosary while going around the park next to our house.
