Do you pray specific standard prayers 4 people when they need or ask for prayer?

If so who taught you to pray specific prayers?

It’s part of Catholic life. My mother taught me my first rote prayers. As an adult I have several favorite prayers that I pray repeatedly, but when someone sends me a particularly beautiful prayer for a certain intention I keep them on file.
Anyone can ask for prayer.
Would you like us to pray for you?

I pray the Eternal Rest prayer for deceased people. I was aware of the practice of doing it but really learned this prayer off the web as an adult.

I also pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the recently deceased and also for living people to give them grace. I learned this as an adult because Divine Mercy devotion was not approved when I was a child, and therefore my mother never said it.

I also say a Hail Mary for people in need of prayer, I was always taught to do this by my mother and the nuns. This is the standard prayer you would say for anybody in need of help.
You can also say an Our Father and a Hail Mary, or an Our Father/ Hail Mary/ Glory Be, or three Hail Marys. These are standard prayer combinations that I was taught as a child.

Couple of Novenas I use for special situations of concern include Mother Theresa’s Express Novena, and the Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart which was actually written by St. Margaret Mary but in recent years gets associated a lot with Padre Pio. I learned both of these from the Web.

Sometimes I just ask God to help the person “in Jesus’ name”. I was taught at some point that God does not deny anything asked “in Jesus’ name”. To me that does not mean you always get just what you ask for but rather that God will definitely hear your prayer and take some action though it may not be what you are expecting or wishing for.

I might pray a prayer I might tailor to the specific needs of the person that requested I pray about. Sometimes, depending on the situation, I will pray the “standard” Catholics prayers, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be., etc.

I learned those prayers in Church as a child by hearing them often at the Mass. The Our Father is said most every Mass and the rosary because of religious education classes attended.

The beauty in my heart about being Catholic is we can pray personally our own prayers or if words escape us due to whatever reason we have standard prayers we can fall back on that are comforting for they are so much a part of the Church. I

We read the NIV verse in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 New International Version (NIV)

16 Rejoice always, **

*** 17 pray continually**

**, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I think God is happy with any prayer that is offered with the sincerity of the heart.

God Bless.
