Something like this:

“Dear Lord, make me an instrument of your will. Make me the person you want me to be so that I may carry out your desires at all times. Give me the wisdom to know thy will, the faith to carry it out. Amen.”

Does anybody know the origin of this?

Well, some of it is similar to this:

“Jesus, help me to simplify my life by learning what you want me to be - and becoming that person.”
~St. Therese the Little Flower

It’s not exact, but it’s similar (and one I love). 🙂 The first part of it reminds me of St. Francis’ “Make me a channel of your peace.”

According to Maverick News Service, this was the prayer that Barack Obama wrote and inserted into the Wailing Wall:
“Lord, Protect my family and me. Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will.”
