Do you remember your baptism? (for those under 5 when baptised)

Being showered with a lot of water permanently impacted my memory, and since I saw the baby before me being baptised not 5 minutes before, it was short-term memory.
How could you distinguish it was different than a bath?

Your information on long term and short term memories is not consistent with the definitions of them.

Could you elaborate on why you think this is significant in your life? Or do you just wish to argue with those who don’t take your word for something that is not likely.🤷

Let me think… there were people, there was this old guy in white leading the proceedings, and it wasn’t a bathroom.

Your negative assumption is not welcome. I posted this thread simply for the social aspect; I assumed some others would also remember their baptisms. I don’t see why you had to “take aim” at me.

No one is “taking aim” at you. You need not be so defensive. Your post goes against any sort of logical or psychological thought. The infant brain would not really understand what baptism was or why it is significant. To an infant this would not make sense. Your story is not credible or explainable using science. Now if your point is that you had a supernatural intervention that caused you some sort of superhuman intelligence that made you understand and remember this then we can explore what you think the point of that might be. As it is you seem to be confused about what may have actually happened.

Remembering your baptism (which I don’t believe you do) is long term memory and NOT short term memory. You have your definitions mixed up.

**short-term memory. ** Retention of information that undergoes little processing or interpretation and can be recalled for only a few seconds. Short-term memory can retain about seven items.

long-term memory. information stored in the brain and retrievable over a long period of time, often over the entire life span of the individual.

I can remember my second birthday, and I have two memories that my Mom says were from when I was 18 months old (I can remember sitting on a floor with no carpet, and I can remember a scene from my bedroom looking from my crib – basically just two images/scenes, nothing else).

Don’t remember my baptism – I have the certificate, and the word of my parents, but, you never know, could be a big conspiracy. :hmmm:

I was 3 months old, so no. I do have memories from the age of 2 on.
