I have a 45 minute commute to work…
And usually hold my rosary now, while driving.
I’m thinking about turning off EWTN radio…
and try to recite the rosary…a decade…

Anybody practice this routine ?

I do. I use “The Holy Rosary” app. (I put my phone in the cup holder) and either say it in my mind or aloud. I have just under a 30mn commute.
🙂

Turn off the radio and 45 minutes is more than enough time to pray the entire rosary.
Your commute time is very close to mine and this is my routine in the morning.

I don’t, but I’ve heard Father Mitch suggest that it can be a good time to do so.

I’ve done it only a couple of times. If I have a drive of 15 minutes or left I’ll try to drive in silence and pray, just usually not the rosary. However, I do say it on my train ride to work every morning and sometimes on the way back, since it’s about a 20 minute ride.

I do. I have a single decade rosary that can be wrapped around my car wheel while driving. I just use my thumb to hold the current bead and move to the next.

Knowing your situation, if you don’t want to have the physical rosary on you, remember- God gave us 10 fingers for a reason 🙂

I attended a funeral of one who had this practice. He was killed in a car accident because he was distracted. The passenger, who was praying with him, survived but with permanent injury. In my opinion, it’s as bad as talking on a cell phone while driving.

I agree. I tried it in my early days after my conversion, but I found it just too distracting. And I don’t even live in a big city.

Listening and going along with a CD might be doable, tho.

I routinely say the Rosary while driving, using either my fingertip Rosary or my fingers.

That’s a better idea. The goal is to get to heaven someday… Not today.

Yes. All the time. I like the idea of having a Hail Mary prayed through countryside where there might not have ever been a prayer said.

I have, several times. Much easier following along on radio. CD would be good.

I’m surprised someone hasn’t wisecracked that they have segmented off their steering wheel to mimic a rosary, and follow it along without having to take their hands off the wheel.

Wow ! This site rocks !

My drive “to” work is at 4am or so - not many cars trucks on the highway to be distracted. I like the idea of a CD - just got a CD player installed in my car. Driving home - no way.

I like the idea too of a small decade Rosary. I did try to say a decade, doing 60 mph, but the 5 decade Rosary got tangled up, not sure what direction the beads I was going in.

I do! I love it actually. If you have Apple Music there’s an album on it by Dana and Fr Kevin Scallon simply titled “The Rosary” and it has beautiful music and audio. Robert Kochis also has the whole two-disc set of his CD, “The Complete Rosary” with beautiful music and reflections. I use both when I’m driving, whenever I have the time to say a mystery. I don’t use my beads when I’m driving, however, unless I’m a passenger. I can’t hardly change the radio station while driving let alone.

If I’m going to be driving far enough, I will use my phone and play the rosary through my radio. I use a finger rosary to keep count. I find it to help me focus more on driving and not get as distracted.

I do. I have a rosary “ring” that I sometimes use, but often just use my fingers.

I have actually seen a steering wheel cover that had little studs along the whole thing, a cross and a centerpiece.

I usually only pray the rosary on long drives on turnpikes or parkways if I am driving. But if someone else is driving, I can do it on shorter trips too.
