As to the topic of this thread, is there any religion today that could overtake Christianity as the dominant global religion? If so, why?

If Catholic eschatological speculations or Revelations are anything to go by, it seems there will be a great loss of faith or rather a loss of genuine faith among catholics as they go through the great chastisement or age of great darkness tribulation and trials for the church. Some say we are now entering in to that age at the beginning stages.

If this is true, the Catholic faith will lose great numbers compared to other religions. Islam is a growing religion, not just in faith, but also in terms of the number of people born in to Islam in general. They live in a strongly religious society, unlike the western world, where it is not uncommon to be born in to a family that is not Christian or is only religious by name and tradition but not in heart.

The fact of the matter is, religion is lazy in the west/uk, non-confrontational, and private, which further dilutes genuine faith. We live in a circular society, and the new generation of young adults do not appear to express a religious attitude, and in some cases express an anti-religious attitude based on moral convictions. This appears to me to be true at least in the Uk. Not to mention, the popular media is not on our side.

Within the US, the prevalent Christian denomination will be the Simpsons’ Western Branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism, apparently created after the Schism of Lourdes caused by fighting for the right to attend church with wet hair, a right since abolished - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_The_Simpsons

But outside of that, New Age pick-n-mix.

You caught me, but if you asked people around the world questions about the Simpsons or about some major religion other than their own, I’d bet most would know more about the Simpsons.

I am currently reading a part of the Catholic encyclopedia to which it said, “Formal dogmatic Atheism is self-refuting, and has never won the reasoned assent of any considerable number of men. The largest religion in the world is not Christianity, it is Islam. Some people think it is only a matter of time before Sharia Law is introduced in Britain due to the growth of Islam in Britain.
