Do you sing a hymn to Mary?

Catholicnow, yes when they get around to it, priests sing good…especially Mary songs.
 
Give me a break. Are we falsely worshipping when we sing “America the Beautiful?” Is it creature worshipping to sing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider?” Is “She Works Hard For The Money” female worship?

How on earth could it be wrong to commemorate those who have devoted themselves entirely (sometimes martyring themselves in horrible ways) to the service of God, by singing a song.

And for your own sake, I’d reconsider referring to the Mother of Christ as “a dead women.”

hello my sister. have no fear. lol! given half the chance, we shall correct his ignorance and educate him. i think the Creator, sends fundamentalist here to Catholic answers for a reason. even if they dont realize it. Peace and Grace to you. 🙂

This group is called “The Priests” they are from Ireland. Two brothers and one friend who are real priests, they are so good I image male angels must sing like that 🙂

really? then why is she typified in so many ways in the o.t.? the ark of the covenant, solomons mother bathsheeba. davids exclamaiton when the ark was returned. not to mention, when a Godly king was in charge of israel, he took down all the altars in the high places except those that represented the queen mother. all the way back in genisis, God Prophecies her, when he cursed the serpent in the garden. the angels salutation. the book of revelation. on and on and on. due to no fault of your own, you are ignorant. so i will ignore the snide remarks against the Mother of our Lord. and may God forgive you, you know not what you do. :nope:

you must have more than this. you remind me of some of my opponents when i box. they talk all this and that before we step in the ring. then when it comes time, they have nothing. absolutley nothing. they end up losing badly. 👍

personally, no. i find many Marian hymns to be quite beautiful to listen to, but do not sing them, myself. the hymns and songs i sing in my heart are addressed to God, the Father, and to God the Son.
 
I not only sing Marian hymns but I am consecrated to her as a Knight and committed to the spread of the Gospel of her son throughout all the world. I always remember what she told the servants at the wedding feast at Cana and has reiterated in every approved Marian apparition since.

John 2:5] His mother said to the servants, **“Do whatever he tells you.” **
 
We have a few Marian hymns that are sneaked into the liturgy from time to time.

Hi. I suppose given a chance you would not sing to the President and that you’d probably against James Taylor singing, “… and I have to say I love you in a song”.

Just curious, what do you think you are doing when you sing hymns to someone?

Is it correct if I say that the Lutherans just could not find a way to fit in the singing about Mary in your service? Otherwise I am puzzled when you also said, “I see nothing wrong in singing a hymn about her, or any of the saints”.

So it is actually not a practice but depends on someone’s preference of the day. Right?

To other Catholic posters - thanks for sharing what your parishes did regarding Marian’s hymns during mass.
