Do you stay for prayer after Mass?

How many of you stay for prayer after Mass, either private or communal? What prayers do you say?
 
I had to vote “no” for now, but starting this weekend it will be a whole new story. I plan on praying the Leonine prayers.
 
A Hail Mary for the celebrant. The Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. The Prayer to Christ the King. A few minutes of private thanksgiving. The Canticle of the Three Young Men.

Yes, I like to stay after Mass and pray. After Sunday Mass is difficult because so many people congregate in the aisles and pews to chat which I find very distracting. I find it much more productive after daily Mass as these people take their chat outside.
 
I just recently decided that I was going to start praying a little after mass. I just do so by going back to the chapel, praying, and usually just reading a tiny amount out of the Bible. Nothing much, but I think it still counts for something.
 
Not always for lengthy periods of time, but I always try to do at least something special. I like the prayer Thomas Aquinas wrote for after Communion.
 
Yes, we always pray before the Blessed Tabernacle. We kneel and say prayers of thanksgiving and tell our LORD how much we love him.
I also kneel in the chapel before Mass starts and pray for my 19 yr old son.

Our family does this, too. I don’t know what my kids are saying, but I also am saying the Leonine prayers.

I always stay for a few prayers - most times it is just private prayers for my son(s) when they are out of the country especially in Iraq. My church in Louisiana (St. Bernard) everyone stayed and prayed and I’m sure they have been doing it for over 200 years - so happy the Archbishop said we could repair it and open it as soon as the repairs are done. Here in AR I’ve only seen very few people stay and pray afterwards and I’ve been to 4 different churches looking for a home away from home - will be trying church #5 this Sunday.
 
I have for years, but it is becoming increasingly difficult because of all the noise.
 
Okay, so there is only two of us that voted no, and one says he/she is changing their vote next Sunday.

I am among the first to receive our Lord in Communion. I have the length of two communion songs for prayers of Thanksgiving. When Mass is over and we sing the last song, I leave. 🤷
 
yes, the priest stays after every daily mass (4 each day) to do the entire Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy with the congregation, after replacing the Blessed Sacrament for perpetual adoration.

i am lucky to be able to attend one of the strongest parishes in Southern California, St. Peter Chanel in Hawaiian Gardens. it is staffed by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. not only do they have perpetual adoration 24/7/365, they have confessions before, during, and after Mass, in addition to the 4-hour lot on Saturday (and yes, there is a line or two there at all of them!) they also practice a total consecration to Mary.

it is no coincidence that the parish has one of the strongest congregations in the land, and young people flock there like groupies!

bonus points: they have a strict dress code, with signs enforcing them outside… and yes, it’s still a novus ordo english mass!

To be honest, yes but only about half the time. But, I do go more than once a week, and go to adoration. Amoung other things. But, on Sundays, no- only half the time.🙂
 
Usually I do. I quietly say the Leonine prayers, almost sotto voce.
 
In this parish we began the practice of praying a decade of the rosary for vocations after every Mass, and we stay for that, unless I have to hurry up to open the doors for RCIA or other activities. Mass in this parish is like a job to me, since I am usually on the clock Sunday morning, so I frequently go to the Saturday evening here or at the church closer to my home, or on campus, so I can be fully present for Mass, not “on the job”. I get too many interruptions from parents and parishioners in my workplace parish. I love to pray LOTH after Mass, and did it with a group in former parish, but impossible here, between the rosary people of front and the “Hey how are you, haven’t seen you since yesterday, lets compare notes at the top of our lungs” crowd in the back.

My lips move but the volume is so low as to be inaudible to anyone else.

You’re probably aware of what the Leonine prayers are,but for anyone else’s benefit, the Leonine prayers were 3 Hail Marys, Hail Holy Queen, “O God, our Refuge and our Strength…,”
Saint Michael prayer, and 3 “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.”
 
I like to pray the Rosary after Sunday mass. For weekdays, I have to get back to work; therefore, I pray for the intention of the Pope and for him.

Actually I’ve not heard of the Leonie prayers… thank you.

Why are they called that? Was Leonie a person? Now I understand why there is a poster here with that member name - duh! 😊
