Hi!

…let’s see, manufacturing a weapon and making it accessible to the public; manufacturing weapons with greater and greater capacity for destruction; fighting laws that can make the obtainment of these weapons more difficult; redesigning weapons so that they would be less susceptible to tampering and making them even more lethal…

When distributors and vendors make their purchases/place orders, do you truly think that they are concerned with how many and who is purchasing these weapons?

Maran atha!

Jon, the intent is to demonstrate that while teaching the “right” use of a vehicle the purpose of the vehicle is not to kill/destroy.

The only purpose of a gun is to kill/destroy.

Hollowood’s mentality has reached into the culture making people think of guns as a romantic “constitutional right.”

Your claim to inherent human and civil right would have one think that we are birthed with a hand gun and a pack of rounds–that’s more hollowood’s romanticism.

How many guns does it take to make a sandwich?

Maran atha!

Angel

Jon, you are missing the point.

How is a pharmaceutical company able to recall bad batches of products?

There’s accountability; hundreds or thousands of guns disappear between the manufacturers end and the vendors with no accountability–they simply manufacture more and more without the concern that these are being sold in black markets or that the distributors and vendors are seeking greater profits by selling them illegally.

Since no one suffers, well except for the common joe/jill that gets murdered, pass the metal, build a faster more destructive weapon, and cha-ching it all the way to the bank.

Maran atha!

Angel

your comparison is quite simplisti
sometimes simple is the best.

guns are gloried all day every day on TV and in the news. kids are curious if they find one what do you think they will do.

this isn’t a pro or anti gun approach. it is common sense gun safety.

if you teach a kid not to pull the trigger; no one gets hurt. it has worked for years until abandoned by the liberal education system

Yes, teaching about the dangers and responsibilities is great; taking kids to firing ranges to “teach them about gun safety” is nonsense. It’s like teaching them the value of honesty, truth, and respect while engaged in all sorts of behavior that belies the purported instilling of those virtues.

When a manufacturer’s, distributor’s or vendor’s whole concern is making more money, do you really think that they are concerned with proper registration and distribution of weapons?
Yup! Else they could be put out of business or worse, go to jail. The US Gov’t has an entire agency (the BATFE) focused largely on firearms.
Actually, what we have experienced is that the more the culture idolizes guns and destruction the more the manufacturers and their satellites (ok, yes, I was thinking minions) seek ways to put more destructive capabilities into the weapons that they know will end up in the hands of idiots and loonies.
Examples? Any proof?
How many other groups in the US has the backing of the government that they cannot be held responsible for destruction related to their goods?
Wow, talk about a canard! The US Gov’t passed a law prohibiting the suing of gunmakers based upon the actions of its customers, so long as the firearms did not malfunction causing injury and were sold in a legal manner. The gov’t did this because some politicos planned to simply sue all the gunmakers out of business based on politics. This is one the anti-gun people shouldn’t whine about. They brought this on themselves.
A multi billion dollar industry that facilitates death cannot be held responsible when their weapons are easily put in the hands of murderers and criminals who avail themselves of the most destructive weapons and/or the mechanism to make them even more destructive because it is not ‘fair?’
It’s not a “multi-billion dollar industry.” See above.

How many guns would it take for you to feel safe, 10, 100?

How many guns should you be allowed to buy so that you could go shooting up nature?

How many guns should be upgrade to multiple rounds firing?

How many machine guns does it take to kill a deer?

How many machine guns does it take to keep safe from a wondering lion, tiger or bear?
The main answer to these is it’s none of anyone’s business, but more precisely ;

Safety is not the only reason. I may be a collector. But where safety is a factor, that is for the individual to decide.

How many guns should one be allowed to buy? How many newspapers should The NY Times be allowed to cut down trees for?
The answer is clearly that people typically don’t go around shooting up nature. Hunted and fishers probably invest more in nature conservation than the city folks who hold a self-assigned moral superiority.

Multiple rounds: if my wife is at home alone , I want her to have plenty of rounds to defend herself from more than one intruder and for missed due to fear and panic. Now, if you don’t want them in your home, fine.

Machine guns are illegal for the vast majority of Americans and have been since 1934. I also believe modifications like bump sticks should also be illegal without a class 3.

There are reasonable answers even to hyperbolic questions such as these

i don’t know who you are railing about. i said teach it in school not at a range

They darn well better be. That’s their job, and for the most part, dealers in this country do it right, despite the occasional scoundrel, and the sometimes bearing of false witness against them in the media.
And making a profit is a good thing

So why aren’t they?:
In America, there are an estimated 250-280 million firearms. Out of these, it is of course impossible to tell how many are illegal weapons, as the very nature of a weapon being illegal would preclude its registration to the current owner or wielder.
But it is still fairly clear with a cursory glance of some statistics that illegal weapons have made their ways into the hands of plenty of criminals. 86% of juveniles in correctional facilities are reported to have owned a gun at some point, all of which would have been illegal weapons for the juveniles to own. 65% of juvenile offenders tend to own three or more illegal weapons and firearms. (https://gun.laws.com/illegal-guns/illegal-guns-statistics)
…or do you suppose these guns are being manufactured in back allies or brought in from China?
Examples? Any proof?
Let’s see… there was the six-shooter, then the rifle, then the pistol, then the reaping rifle, then the automatic, then the sixteen-rounds, then the thirty-rounds… how many rounds does it take to kill a deer?

Jon, it is the dislocation from reality to which I am speaking.

Other than prison, and perhaps the rarest of occasion, there’s no one using newspapers to kill people; hence, rationing newspapers must differ from that of weapons.

While I respect your wife’s decision to arm herself to the teeth, the fact remains that she/you should not have afforded the freedom to build up an arsenal of destructive weapons just because you have the fear that one day a lion, tiger, bear or a human intruder will trespass onto your property or break into your home–a good semi should do nicely, if the intent is defense.

The gunmakers are following the myriad of laws out there, else they face the consequences.

Do you have any proof to back up your beliefs? There are very strict rules to importing guns into the US, particularly from China.

I understood; I was not railing.

Making a comparison does not equal attack.

Jon, so all those illegal guns are brought in by illegals?

No “fact” presented. Just your personal opinion.

As I quoted before; these guns are just dropping from the clouds, right?

I am not crediting China with the proliferation f illegal guns in America–I am suggesting that we can’t look outside for the illegal gun trafficking that is done in the US and we can’t believe that the guns simply appear out of nowhere.

What “illegal gun trafficking”? All the firearms used in LV were legally procured.

The dislocation from reality is a comment about lions and tigers. That kind of nonsense undermines your position. I did not say she was armed to the teeth. I said I want her to have enough rounds just in case, and frankly I don’t care what others think of that.

As for newspapers, you mentioned something about shooting up nature. Doesn’t cutting down trees hurt nature? IOW, I’m meeting your absurdity with mine.

There are over 300 million firearms owned by 100 million people. Rarely are people building arsenals to kill others, and when they do, I am no more at fault for it than I am responsible for the drunk driving because I’m having a beer tonight. I’m not at fault for the person who yells fire in a crowded theatre because I exercise my free speech rights.

Jon, so all those illegal guns are brought in by illegals?

Is it your accusation that illegal guns are being sold by licensed dealers? If so, where is your proof?
Name your source.
You seem to want to blame me, gun owners, manufacturers and dealers for violence instead of the shooter

I do support the Second Amendment but I have to say the pictures of that Las Vegas hotel room and the rifles and what not that guy had blew my mind. All of that is legal. Wow. Bloodchilling. Do we really need that kind of fire power to stop burglars, intruders, etc. I will just keep my mouth shut on this one. No comment. Especially Christians need to pray here too. My God.
