Leftism: ideas so good that they have to be mandatory, universal, and involuntarily implemented.
chicago proves people that want guns will have them even if they purchase them illegally. drugs were banned in all states at one time but readily available. a law will not stop the trafficking of guns. it will only take them from the law abiding.Chicago’s situation does not prove that gun control laws don’t work. It proves that we need comprehensive gun control legislation on a national level.
agreed it is an amnesty not a buy-back.No gun massacre, which is the topic.
Again MC are not gangs, they are criminal organisations. They don’t decide to arm up and shoot into festivals either, randomly killing. Neither do the mafia. Or the triads.
It is not a new buy back. It’s not a buy back. The government is not buying guns. It’s voluntary handing in guns.
It’s not new, it’s been going for almost 4 months now. Over 51 thousand guns have been relinquished.
These weapons have been used in dozens of recent drive-by shootings of homes and businesses, as well as targeted and random attacks in parks, shopping centres and roads.
In this series, Fairfax Media looks at Melbourne’s gun problem and the new breed of criminals behind the escalating violence.
The investigation has found:
There have been at least 99 shootings in the past 20 months - more than one incident a week since January 2015
Known criminals were caught with firearms 755 times last year, compared to 143 times in 2011
The epicentre of the problem is a triangle between Coolaroo, Campbellfield and Glenroy in the north-west, with Cranbourne, Narre Warren and Dandenong in the south-east close behind
Criminals are using gunshot wounds to the arms and legs as warnings to pay debts
Assault rifles and handguns are being smuggled into Australia via shipments of electronics and metal parts
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)Hey, I get it. You’re cool with the tens of thousands of gun deaths each year in this country. Small price to pay for your “freedom” (although I suspect you’d be singing a different tune if you or someone you loved had to pay that price).
Some of us aren’t.
This is a consistent strategy of gun ban proponents. They include suicides and police actions in the line of duty as part of the "gun violence ". Gun murders have actually declined even though there are more guns in private hands. Most gun murders are with handguns, and a significant percentage of those happen in four or five large cities. You do understand upant that US gun violence statistics include gun usage from police against perpetrators right?
Criminal organisation my government has seen fit to write special laws about.there hasn’t been a mass killing only because of the culture and not the availability of guns. but the culture appears to be changing.
That same description can be applied to most of the founding fathers. As someone pointed out, there are also differences. However, when we say that the right to bear arms is in part to protect society from overbearing tyranny, or whatever, we have to think not just about the Southern white guy who is president of the NRA, but the disgruntle black youth who may see our government much the same way that Americans once viewed the British. What the heck does a violent, racist group have to do with any of this?
it is the black market. guns bring a higher price in the gang controlled areas of chiraq. the black market is the reason gun control will not work the way they want it to.So, the questions remain, why go to Indiana to buy guns and take them back to Chicago to commit crimes? Why doesnt Indiana have a much higher crime with its “lax” gun laws than Chicago with its strict gun laws? What’s so special about the south side of Chicago? In short, why spend the gas going back to Chicago? Just be a criminal in Indiana.
Look, Chicago can blame Indiana all it wants, but the crime problem is in Chicago
I fully concur!New gun laws that target the law abiding will not fix the problem
First, we are not a tobacco free society. Second, it seems like you do not agree with this, which would make you the first pro-lung cancer person I heard of.Yep!.. we are now a tobacco free society; everyone’s saved by the ‘Attorney General’ notice posted on cigarette packs!
