Why are semi-auto firearms so scary that I need to pay an extra $100 to own one?
It isn’t that Von thinks they are scary. He just thinks poor people shouldn’t have access to semi-autos.

Can you imagine the outrage if a conservative politician said that? She/he would be accused of being a racist elitist. And it doesn’t matter that the overwhelming majority of poor Americans don’t commit gun crimes. They’re a threat just because they are poor.

This is just plain over-dramatizing pnewton. (It illustrates that you do not have any real arguments).
I hate it when people ask questions, then change the questions when you provide the answer. I will not respond again to obvious rhetorical points or questions from you.

You asked. I posted three examples that I found quickly. I am done with trying to document the obvious. Just so you don’t have to, I will post your next response.
(It illustrates that you do not have any real arguments).
And my answer in advance is, “No, I see this as a pearls before swine issue.” I know what arguments I have heard, as do most people. Denying anyone holds them or has given them will be your “pearls before swine” issue to me.

Except that my post that you referenced is not what you present it to be.

What these “tools” you referenced are can be determined by any reader here on their own. I will not hold my opinion as valid. I just quoted. Likewise, anyone can decide for himself if they ever heard this argument of guns being needed to defend against the government. One person said it was not an argument that has been used. I say it is and a common one. There is no point in debate over a disagreement one would better decide for himself.

Hi!

Never heard of that, could you cite news articles that demonstrate this claim?

Hi, Cathoholic!

That’s exactly my point!

In Latin American (our closest explosive bodies) the governments or the anti-government agencies do not care if people have guns or not; they will terrorize their own mothers if they threaten their “cause.”

Anyone that wants to own weapons in the US can and have done so (some posters have offered 300,000,000 guns in the hands of 100,000,000 Americans); yet, the reality is that even if every person in America would have access to one or several weapons, if the government were to turn against its people there would be a tyrannical force that would not care if millions were to be razed out of existence. Conversely, the majority of people are too horror tactics-inept (not properly trained to disassociate themselves from reason and human dignity) to counter such extremely destructive force.

In China (and other parts of the world) the government turns against its people with rage and murder on its mind (Tiananmen Square) as the armed forces meet unarmed citizens with automatic weapons and tanks… this cruelty and mayhem is rooted in a history that these governing bodies have not determined to terminate from its tools of governance. In the US we have had similar dark experiences but the governing body has been moving away from it.

The more the US citizens get involved in the affairs of the governance the more that such violence would remain far removed.

So instead of espousing gun ownership with that romanticized militia that will come together to forced the tyrannical power that be (which only exists in the mind of the die hard anarchist) to uphold the United States’ Constitution, just say that you want to own more weapons than you can count–and be done with this innate argument. No militia will conquer a tyrannical power bent on destruction.

People talk about the colonial war against England as though a huge military power (Goliath) was done in by a few farmers and a few defectors from the British (David)… here’s what transpired during those years of battle for independence:
Between 1689 and 1763, there were no less than four colonial wars that involved France, Britain, and Spain and their respective colonial possessions. Rightly called “Wars for Empire”, these conflicts were extensions of wars that had erupted on the European mainland or on the high seas over balance of power, expansionism, mercantilism, and Indian alliances. (http://www.history.nd.gov/exhibits/lewisclark/colonialwars.html)
Had Britain resources not been overtaxed, had Britain not been caught up in such terrible overreach, do you truly believe we would not be “hailing” the queen, right now, instead of claiming 1st, 2nd, 3rd…?

This, again, is the implied position that since the militia can’t possibly win, might as well surrender our firearms along with the right.
Proof that the position is not a call for a ban on guns, but instead a redistribution of guns into only the hands of government.
Frankly, the way progressives talk about President Trump, one is perplexed as to why they want him to have all the guns. I certainly don’t, much less an authoritarian like Sanders

see above i quoted the judges conclusion and have the info at the end of the quote.

As Charlie Brown would say . . . “Good grief.”

You are wrong jcrichton.

The Latin American Governments DO care and some of them have extreme draconian laws against their own law abiding citizens (in my opinion).

But it’s irrelevant if they care or don’t care.

American citizens are not called to forfeit their rights because you think Latin American countries “care” or “don’t care”.

I don’t think this line of reasoning is persuasive to have politicians self-empowered to overrule the Constitution (including the Second Amendment).

What you and other “progressives” are proposing is a dangerous precedent.

American citizens are also not called to forfeit their Constitutionally recognized rights because you think if the stars weren’t aligned perfectly, we’d all be British.

In 1931, Weimar authorities discovered plans for a Nazi takeover in which Jews would be denied food and persons refusing to surrender their guns within 24 hours would be executed. They were written by Werner Best, a future Gestapo official. In reaction to such threats, the government authorized the registration of all firearms and the confiscation thereof, if required for “public safety.” The interior minister warned that the records must not fall into the hands of any extremist group.
In 1933, the ultimate extremist group, led by Adolf Hitler, seized power and used the records to identify, disarm, and attack political opponents and Jews. Constitutional rights were suspended, and mass searches for and seizures of guns and dissident publications ensued. Police revoked gun licenses of Social Democrats and others who were not “politically reliable.”

Tyrants don’t seem to agree with you. The first thing they do is confiscate firearms in the hands of civilians

Let’s see if I can slow this down enough:

militia: poorly trained, haphazardly brought together, millions of ideas on how to own the constitution, billions of decisions to make on how to topple the tyrannical regime, short-fuse mentality; me-mentality; me-first mentality; seasoned with I, I, I, I, I…

tyrannical power: bent on power or destruction of its opponents; every citizen an enemy of the state; wheeling enough power to raze whole geographical areas with the press of a few buttons; exterminate or perish mentality.

It’s like setting up little leagues against the nfl and expecting physical numbers to out do brute force.

Wait, so judges will influence a tyranny so it can resolve to fight at a plane field with against it extremely disadvantaged foes, really?

Maran atha!

Progressive?

I am asking for us to look into the reality of affairs.

Dreaming about the good ole militia days is void.

The comparison about the abuse of power in the Latin American nations is to demonstrate that when a tyrannical agent enters the field only it remains–citizens be razed!

Instead of romanticizing about guns and controlling a tyrannical North American regime we should be involving ourselves with the daily governance of the nation–this is where the citizens have their power, not in manning a few weapons.

Forfeiting rights? No. Just give up the illusion of why you cleave so sternly to guns. Say that you want as many guns as your mule can carry and there’s no need to further the argument… yet, claiming that the well-armed militia keeps the US government from reaching into tyranny is not only fallacy but devoid of reality.

So go ahead and purchase three hundred guns/assault weapons on the grounds of the 2nd; just don’t pretend you are do it to afford me or anyone else their constitutional rights.

Reality check – poorly trained militia with a few military leaders was not the only reason why the colonies were able to liberate themselves from England.

Pretending/romanticizing that well-armed militia keeps the present government from becoming a tyrannical agency is folly.

Gotcha. So, you’re saying my evaluation of your position is correct. The people have no chance of defending their liberty against tyranny, so turn in your guns and rights. You don’t want to eliminate guns from society, you just want government to have them all. You’re happy for Trump to have them
