When i was a teenager and i was calling myself an atheist i used to say a stupid, pervert, sexual joke about the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit. I thougt i made me look cool in fornt of my friends, intil my father told me he will slap me on my mounth if he ever hears it again. Ofcourse that later on i regretted it terribly and i have conffesed it on my first confession after i became a Catholic. But i still feel guilty about it from time to time and ashamed of it.

If you confessed with true repentance and received absolution, than it is forgiven. Your continued shame is not a sign you haven’t been forgiven, but a warning to you not to do anything similar ever again.

There are many beautiful devotions to Our Lady. Maybe learning about one and practicing it regularly will bring you comfort. Maybe start with saying the Memorea every day.

If you were really sorry and you made a good confession then it is forgiven.

I kind of have a similar problem 😦

I had some absolutely horrible thoughts against the Holy Spirit, or some things that I said that I said were really incorrect later on… sometimes I got blasphemous thoughts against the Holy Spirit go through my mind 😦 Even though I am very sorry for them and want to love the Holy Spirit, even though I try to fight these thoughts, - the memory of all this makes me very sad and I can’t seem to forgive myself at all. I am trying to trust in God’s forgiveness but sometimes I despair because I get worried if He will forgive me (the unforgiveable sin and all that). How in the world do we keep contrition and sorrow for sin but still accept God’s mercy fully and forgive ourselves? I know that it must hurt Christ so deeply if we reject His mercy or don’t believe in it 😦 He even said so Himself to many Saints… but these thoughts were so horrible, and against the Holy Spirit who is pure goodness, love, and purity, - that I can’t get over the fact that I had them - even for the times I didn’t fully consent. (I have trouble figuring out when I consented and when I didn’t).

Maybe it would help to seek to do penance by having a very strong devotion to the Holy Spirit from now on. 🙂

Anyways… just wanted to let the OP know, I have a similar situation 😦

Hi, scroll down to Sins against the Holy Ghost

newadvent.org/cathen/07409a.htm
this is helpful… do you think my understanding of this is correct? specifically - that if a person commits a sin against the Holy Spirit but then repents, that means that they did so not from absolutely pure malice but with some ignorance or weakness… and that the reason it’s unforgiveable is because if done actually, through malice alone, such a person would not come to repentance. ? I think that is what St Thomas is saying… and possibly St Augustine too. I’ve worried about this a lot because I had horrible thoughts against the Holy Spirit and even made mistakes regarding some of His works (believing them came from the evil one) - but I did repent, and I can see there might be weakness or ignorance there. I certainly don’t want to oppose or hurt the Holy Spirit in any way.

Don’t worry about the unforgivable sin. Fr. Serpa told me what it is, but the administrator told us not to reveal what is said in pm what the permision of the sender.

I haven’t had time to ponder it yet. I’ll have to take some time before I answer. 🤷

If you have repented your sins then they are forgiven no matter what the thought or statement. I have bad thoughts that go through my mind but have been told that these are often not sins they are just scruples, if you didn’t want the thoughts then they aren’t sinful.
