Do you think that this Cathedral is ugly?

It is unusual. . .my parish church looks more like a cathedral than this building. (Our permanent building finished in 2001 is Romanesque which some people also find “ugly” but I find it very traditional looking and beautiful without too much ornamentation.) My first thought upon seeing the outside was that I feel sorry for the diocese that got stuck with this building. I’ve seen “modern” done a whole lot better. This reminds me in an unpleasant way on the outside of the base chapel #3 at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH where I grew up. It was also in the round with the same weird roof.

Kind of looks like the Casa Ramos Mexican restraunt in Centralia, WA.
 
Yeah the Dodge City Cathedral is rather different. The exterior truely reflects the surrounding area with its Spanish and ranch feeling, but the interior needs some help. The lights I believe are what really bother me, just these industrial looking things about to fall on your head, scary. The Cathedra, hmm, I wonder if they were trying too hard to have the feel of the area culture in the interior. I think they could have done a bit better.

I belong to the CAthedral of the Immaculate Conception here in Kansas City, MO. Our Cathedral was wrecknovated back in the late 50’s early 60’s and hopefully all the pictures have been destroyed. We renovated a few years back and the results are wonderful. I think I found a decent group of pictures in the link, I couldn’t find the link to some stellar shots unfortunetly
