As a liberal, let me put it this way: I distrust the liberal media a little less than I distrust the conservative media. And some of the European media I distrust even less. But completely trust ANY of the media–liberal, conservative, mainstream, American, European, television, or print–no way!If you’re like a lot of us, you probably trust the news media when it speaks about things we agree with, but distrust the news media otherwise. You probably prefer news media that caters to democrats or republicans, depending on your political and moral preferences.

I agree. “Sins of omission” can be just as biased as the other type.Several yearsago the Jesuit high school my boys attended celebrated their 150th anniversary in San Francisco and had a block party --there weresigns about their anniversary all along the boulevard near where we live – every kind of “goodies” were available – and NOT one word in our local newsspaper. The next week the “gays” had their block party and one entire section of the paper was devoted to this block party – needless to say I cancelled the newspaper and only get it on Sundays – I might add that if a well-known Catholic did something wrong, it would probably be on the front page!!!
Good for you.Several yearsago the Jesuit high school my boys attended celebrated their 150th anniversary in San Francisco and had a block party --there weresigns about their anniversary all along the boulevard near where we live – every kind of “goodies” were available – and NOT one word in our local newsspaper. Stories have to be approved by editors. Trust me. When pagan liberals see a story they don’t like, it’s dead. And your career is likely to be short.I fully trust the media…to give me their viewpoint of their agenda.
What they know, and that we need to learn and implement is that those who control the media control the culture. We need more Christians and conservatives in the media; both on the conservative side, but particularly in the liberal outlets so as to be able to change them from the inside.
I wonder if he still votes Democrat then??I had a friend years ago who was a dyed-in-the-wool liberal and a reporter (I know, kind of redundant). Without going into too much detail, he witnessed/found himself in the middle of a major news story. He wrote it up and submitted it to his direct editor and the national editor. While stories of this nature were being covered by Fox News and other conservative outlets, nothing of the sort was being reported by the liberal media, all of whom were sticking with stories that attacked the then-current president and put his handling of the situation in a negative light. The following morning his direct editor, who was with him as the story unfolded, told him that his story had been squashed and that the events they witnessed hadn’t occurred. When he objected, he was told that if he continued to insist that it had occurred, he’d be out of a job. It was also strongly hinted at that he’d be blacklisted as well. He finally agreed that he’d delete his story and that it hadn’t, in fact, occurred. A few weeks later, he was let go. He finally got the hint and gave up on trying to get another journalism job a few years later.
That was our Homeland Security Threat Alert Level, not CNN’s idea.I seem to remember a few years back during the Al-Qaeda psychosis, there was this colour band appearing on CNN (threat level was expressed using different colours), I remember thinking it was ludicrous, and cheap propaganda. Anything having to do with the environmental scarecrow, i take with a huge grain (ok, i know that’s an oxymoron!) of salt. I expect a certain spin on any given event depending on whom I’m watching (CNN or CBC in French-speaking Canada, or a news media that is associated with conservatism). Information with a semi-sincere attempt at neutrality=thing of the past. All news media, or all medias for that matter, have some kind of implicit or explicit party lines.
I see. Thank you for the correction. That was our Homeland Security Threat Alert Level, not CNN’s idea.
As recently as 2010 he wasn’t. I haven’t talked to him much since then. He registers independent because his liberal mindset still keeps him from registering Republican, but for at least five years he refused to vote Democrat.I wonder if he still votes Democrat then??
