Do you use an electronic missal at Mass?

The only concern I have heard is that using electronics can be a distraction for the person using it during Mass. They might be tempted to check emails or other notifications. We use these devices so much in the secular world but the Mass is a time to leave the world behind and enter that mystical miracle of Communion. I personally wouldn’t use it during the Mass but for study and prayers as a convert, it has been extremely helpful to have access to so many electronic resources.

I have many devotionally useful books on my Kindle, including the Bible. Aquinas, Prayer and the Contemplative life, Autobiography of St. Ignatius, Thomas a Kempis, Imitation of Christ, Complete works of St. John of the Cross, St. Francis De Sales, Treatise on the Love of God, and others. All useful for adoration.

I have a kindle version and I use it when I forget the book. However, I don’t read it during Mass. only before or after.

No. I’ve not seen them used at my parish and hope not to. As someone who sings in the choir loft and sees everything, I should hope this will remain the case. Even someone opening the door and walking into the choir loft at the wrong time can throw some of us off. I have seen others from different parishes use devices for music but it does not work for me personally. I understand the convenience to a degree I suppose but would seek out paper every time myself. They’re just too clunky, they produce a brightness others will likely see, and the users of them will stand out. I would prefer not to see them in the choir loft nor down below.

Mass…there’s an app for that.
I’ll be honest, if I saw someone staring at their phone during mass I’d find it very strange. I guess I am not opened minded enough. I feel like everyone (myself included) is on their phone too much as it is. There are missalettes provided.
I also recommend Magnificat.
