Do You Want a Vocation to the Single Life?

How it isn’t a vocation? When I hear people talk about it, it’s being able to be more involved in their careers. But one’s career is not vocation per se, and greater dedication to it doesn’t make it a vocation.
 
If you say that being single is a state of life and not a vocation, then being married is alsoe a state of life and not a vocation. To be religious would also be a state of life …
I’m waiting for you to give me the definition of what a vocation is, according to you, to know if we are talking about the same thing.

After some thought and given the context, a vocation is a universal call to holiness beyond the one given to us at our baptisms.
 
In this case God can very well call someone to be single permanently , for a all his life, without being a priest, nor religious for his sanctifiaction, it is obvious to me.
So in the sense that you have given, celibacy may very well be a vocation.
And still in the sense that you have given, marriage may not be a vocation for some who are married ( many get married only for their human happiness and not to become holy), even being a priest may not be a vocation for some who fool, and so on …
